I. CONDITION-START-NIRVANA-WOMEN
I myself (A-Nan) heard: Once upon a time the Buddha was in the Chong-Lengthories, in the great forest of Vaisàli (Vaisàli), with one thousand two hundred and fifty Bhikkhus.
At that time, the World-Honored One and Ananda, one morning, wearing robes and carrying bowls, entered the city for alms. After alms round, return to the old place.
When finished eating, gargling, washing practical, arranging clothes, bowls, the Buddha said to Mr. Ananda: "Please help me with the crouch. Now, I want to go to the place of the Old-Ba-La tower, enter the contemplative concentration." The Buddha said that, he immediately went with Ananda to that place.
Arriving there, Mr. Ananda spread a crouching instrument, and the Buddha sat. At that time, the World-Honored One sat down to join a husband and wife, thinking silently. At that time, Mr. Ananda also lived in a separate place, meditating, but not far from where the Buddha sat.
In a moment, the World-Honored One woke up from his meditation, called Ananda and said: "Here in Vairocana, there are many very precious stupas, such as the Udala stupa and the stupa. Gotama, Am-La tower, Da-Tu tower, Sa-La tower, Gia-Ba-La tower.
Mr. A-Nan! Those who have obtained the four divine powers[3] can still live in the realm of life for a whole kalpa or not for one kalpa, not to mention that the Tathagata now has great supernatural powers. life or young life?"
The Blessed One opened the door: "It is possible to ask the World-Honored One to stay in the world" like that, to teach Ananda, but at that time Ananda remained silent and did not understand. spend all.
The World-Honored One kindly mentioned that three times, Mr. Ananda still couldn't be enlightened and did not ask the Tathagata to stay in the long-life realm for one kalpa or not one kalpa, bringing benefit to the world. gods and people in the world. What happen? Mr. A-Nan was mesmerized by Ma-Vuong.
The World-Honored One said this three times, seeing that Ananda's mind was still not enlightened, he immediately kept silent.
At that time, Mara[4] approached the Buddha and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Now the World-Honored One should enter Nirvana! Now the Good One should enter Nirvana! What happen? Before the Blessed One was on the bank of the river Niiranjana, I urged the Blessed One to enter Nirvana, but, at that time when the Blessed One saw that I encouraged him to do so, he replied: "Now four My congregation of Bhikkhus (Bhiksu), Bhikkhunis (Bhiksuni), Upàsaka (Upàsaka), Upà-di (Upàsikà) is incomplete and has not yet been subdued. non-Buddhist, so I have not entered Nirvana.” O World-Honored One! Now that the four orders of the World-Honored One are complete, they have subdued the non-Buddhists and what is worthy of being done, have all been done, so the World-Honored One should enter Nirvana!"
When Mara asked three times like this, the Tathagata immediately replied: "How precious! In the past, on the banks of the River Nirvana, I promised you that my four sets of them were incomplete; up to now, now complete, in three months I will enter Nirvana!"
After hearing the Buddha's words, Ma-king, overjoyed, returned to the Heavenly Palace.
At that time, the World-Honored One gave up his life in the world, used his supernatural powers, and remained in his body for three months.
At that time, on this earth there were eighteen signs of vibration, the drums of the heavens spontaneously rang, and due to the supernatural power of the Buddha, naturally in the voiceless voice, they said, "The Tathagata will not be long in coming. will enter Nirvana.” The gods, the people, suddenly heard that voice, their hearts were very sad, their whole bodies flushed with blood.
The Blessed One, right there, uttered a verse that said:
All living beings,
According to "being" (having) that birth and death.
I am now also born-and-death,
But not according to the place of "being".
All acts-artifacts,
I now want to throw away.[6]
After the World-Honored One spoke that verse, he sat in silence again.
OUTSTANDING-WEIGHT [7]
Once the Buddha was with Mr. Ananda and 1,250 bhikkhus, in the same place as the lecture halls, in the Vairocan forest.
As usual, one morning the World-Honored One and Ananda entered the city for alms.
Returning, having finished eating, arranging the bowls, he told Ananda to take the crouching tools for him, go to the Gia-bala tower, to enter the contemplative concentration.
Arriving at the place where the World-Honored One sat down to join a husband and wife, thinking silently. Mr. Ananda also entered samadhi in a separate place, near the Buddha.
Ra Dinh, the Buddha called Mr. Ananda, said: "There are many precious stupas here in Vairocana!"
He continued: "A person who has obtained the four divine powers can still stay in the long-life realm for one kalpa or not even one kalpa, is it true that the Tathagata has divine power, but can't stay for one kalpa or not even one kalpa? ”
The reason the Buddha said that was to pave the way for Mr. Ananda to ask the Buddha to stay in the world. But, He said it three times, Mr. Ananda remained silent. He was mesmerized by Mara. He was silent.
Thereupon, Māra came to invite him to Nirvana, according to his promise at the old bank of the river Nirvana. He realized that His promise was once, and now it is time to fulfill it. He agreed: After three months he will enter Nirvana. Mara happily returned to the Heavenly Palace.
He said to himself: “All sentient beings subject to the cycle of birth and death are tracked by illicit karma. Even though I was in that scene, I wasn't followed by that karma anymore. Now I leave this false-temporary body!”
II. A-NAN KHAI-THANH
At that time, Mr. Ananda saw that the earth trembled, and his heart was so scared that he thought to himself: "Why is there such a thing today? And, such a thing, is not a small predestination, now I should go and ask the World-Honored One!"
Thinking that, Mr. Ananda immediately got up from his seat, approached the Buddha, bowed his head to the Buddha's feet, and said to the Buddha: "Lord, World-Honored One! Just now, I was alone there, meditating, and suddenly I saw that this earth had eighteen vibrations; I hear the drums of the heavens in space again, my mind is so scared, I don't know what kind of cause and effect it is, I respectfully ask the World-Honored One to teach me!"
The Buddha taught: "Mr Ananda! This earth vibrates because of eight causes and conditions: One is the land that stands by water, this country is sustained by the wind, and this wind is supported by space. In the void, there is a time when a strong wind rises, blowing into the other wind, the other wind moves; The other wind has moved, the other water has moved; That country has moved, this land has moved. Second, the bhikkhus or bhikkhunis, the Upasakas, and the Upasakas, who practice in supernatural powers, only to be accomplished, they want to experiment by themselves, thus the earthly realm. This dynamic. Third, when the Bodhisattva (Bodhissattva) in the Tusita heaven, was about to descend into the womb, the earth moved. Fourth, when the Bodhisattva was born from his right hip, the earth moved. Fifth, when the Bodhisatta left the palace of the king, left home, studied the Way, and became One-Rank Tri-Tri, this land was in turmoil. Sixth, when the Tathagata becomes the Way, starting for the sake of Humanity, Heaven turns the Dharma wheel[9], so the earth moves. Seventh, when the Tathagata discharges the life of the world and uses his divine powers to stay in his body and life, this earth moves. Eighth, when the Tathagata entered Nirvana, this earth moved. Mr. A-Nan! You should know the cause-and-effect of this earth moving, there are eight such things!"
Mr. A-Nan! There are eight sets of them: One is, Slaughter [10]. Second, Brahmin[11]. Third, the Chief-false[12], the layman[13]. Fourth, Sa-Mon[14]. The fifth is, the Four Heavenly-Kings. Sixth, Dao-li-tian. Seventh, Mara. Eight is, Pham-king. The eight sets of us I look at their temperament, who wants to be saved, I depending on where I manifest because they speak the Dharma, but the other person does not know that I am speaking.
Mr. A-Nan! There are eight places of superior victory (victory-origin): First, there is a perception of form in the mind, and less contemplation of form outside. Second, in the mind there is a perception of form, outside of contemplation of form-form more. Third, in the mind do not think about the form, outside the contemplation of the form less. Fourth, in the mind do not think about the form-form, outside the contemplation of the form more. Fifth, the shop all colors are green. Sixth, the shop all colors are yellow. Seventh, all colors are red. Eighth, all colors are white. That is the cultivator's superior method of meditation![15]
Again, Mr. A-Nan! There are eight solutions to liberation: One is, in the mind there is perception of form, outside need to contemplate form. Second, the mind does not perceive form in the mind, and outside contemplating form by thinking is impure. Third, pure liberation, Fourth, no-land-liberation. The fifth is, Consciousness-origin-liberation. Sixth, No-Owner-land of liberation. Seven is, Non-thought, non-non-thought-land of liberation. Eight is, cessation-concentration-liberation. These eight methods of liberation are also the supreme victory of those who practice meditation. If anyone reaches the final destination of these dharmas, that is to say, for all dharmas, they are free from fear.[16]
Mr. A-Nan! Do you know: In the past, when I attained enlightenment, and converted Uruvilvakāsyapa (Uruvilvakāsyapa) by the Nirvana River, at that time Mara came to me and asked me, saying: “O World-Honored One! Now the World-Honored One should enter Nirvana! O God-God! Now the Good One should enter Nirvana! - What happen? - Those who should be saved are all liberated! Now is the time for the World-Honored One to enter Nirvana!" Mara invited me three times like this, I replied: "Now is not the time for me to enter Nirvana! - What happen? - My four sets are not complete, those who should be saved, have not reached the end, the pagans, have not been conquered!" I answered like this three times, Ma Vuong heard, and with a sad heart, returned to the Heavenly Palace. Due to the old conditions, now Mara came back and invited me again: "O World-Honored One! Now the World-Honored One should enter Nirvana! O God-God! Now the Good One should enter Nirvana! - What happen? - Previously, when I was on the banks of the Nirvana River, I urged the Blessed One to enter Nirvana, but at that time the World-Honored One saw that I encouraged him to do so, and he replied: "Now four sets- My congregation of Bhikkhus, Bhikkhunis, Upasakas, and Upasikas are incomplete, and have not yet subdued the non-Buddhists, so I have not yet entered Nirvana. O World-Honored One! Now that the four orders of the World-Honored One are complete, the non-Buddhist religions have been subdued, and all that should have been done has been completed, the Blessed One should now enter Nirvana!" Māra invited me three times like this, I replied: “In the past, by the bank of the Nile, I promised you the four sets of my family that were incomplete, up to now, they are complete. , after three months I will enter Nirvana. When Mara heard what I said, he was overjoyed, and returned to the Heavenly Palace. Here I have accepted Mara's invitation,
At that time, Ananda, having heard the Buddha's words, his heart was so sad, his whole body was flushed with blood, weeping and crying, and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! May the World-Honored One have mercy on us, stay in the world for one kalpa or young one, benefiting gods and people in the world!"
Mr. Ananda invited the Blessed One three times like that. At that time, the World-Honored One said to Ananda: "Now is not the time for you to ask the Tathagata to stay in the world! - What happen? - I promised Mara, after three months I will enter Nirvana, now how can you ask me to stay in the world? Mr. A-Nan! Mr. My attendant ever, have you ever heard me say two words? - Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! I have never heard the Heavenly Sphinx say two words! Before, I had only heard the Blessed One, because the four sets of assemblies said the Dharma: "A person who possesses the four divine powers can live in the world for a whole kalpa or a young kalpa, much less a Tathagata. Those who possess immeasurable spiritual powers and are self-sufficient, now unable to stay in the realm of life for one kalpa or young for one kalpa, immediately discharge the life span of the world, temporarily staying for three months,
The World-Honored One replied to Ananda: "Now, the reason I give up my lifespan is because of you! What happen? Earlier, at this place, I turned to him and said: "A person who has obtained the four divine powers can still live in the realm of life for a whole kalpa or not for one kalpa, not to mention that the Tathagata now has great supernatural powers-- labor, can't it be in the realm of a full life or a short life? I graciously said this three times, to open the door for him to encourage the World-Honored One to stay in the world, but he remained silent, never having asked me to stay for a lifetime. I was young for one life, so now I only have three months to live, why are you now asking me to stay in the world?
Mr. Ananda heard the Buddha say that, knew that the Buddha must have entered Nirvana, could not be encouraged, the mind was born with pain, sadness, anxiety, tears and tears, cannot be braked.
The World-Honored One saw that Mr. Ananda was suffering so much, and he used a consolation: "Mr. Ananda! Now you shouldn't be so sad! You should know: All the conditioned things are like that; All assemblies must separate!"
Thereupon, the World-Honored One spoke in verse:
All conditioned dharmas,
All return to impermanence.
The love and harmony,
All go to the place of separation.
Action-General things like that,
Shouldn't be sad!
At that time, Ananda cried out in tears, saying, "The Supreme Being, the Supreme Being, will soon enter Nirvana, now how can I not be sad!" Then he broke his head and shouted loudly: "Alas, what a pain! The eyes of the world are gone, and soon all sentient beings will lose their good father!"
The World-Honored One said to Mr. Ananda: "Now you shouldn't give birth to sadness, even if I stay in the world for a life or a lifetime, but the union must also be destroyed; The nature and appearance of such conditioned dharmas, you shouldn't be suffering for my own entry into Nirvana! Now I want to go back to Chong-Length of the lecture halls, please help me carry the crouch!" Thereupon, the World-Honored One and Ananda returned to the Chongqing lecture halls.
COMPENDIUM
Mr. Ananda was sitting in meditation, suddenly felt the earth shake. He woke up scared and thought to himself that this earthquake must have a cause?
He asked the Buddha, what is the reason for such an earthquake? The Buddha taught: "Earthquakes have eight causes and conditions: 1/ This earth is dependent on water and wind to sustain each other, When the wind moves, the water moves, when the water moves, the earthquakes. 2/ When the four groups cultivate, they want to experiment with supernatural powers. 3. When the bodhisattva descends into the womb. 4/ When the Bodhisattva was born. 5/ When the Bodhisatta left home, he learned the Way to become Necessary-Treatment. 6/ When the Tathagata becomes enlightened, he begins to turn the Dharma wheel. 7/ When the Tathagata discharges his life. 8/ When the Tathagata enters Nirvana."
Then he told Ananda that in the Buddha-dharma there are eight sets of them; Meditation practice has eight victory-bases, 8 solutions to liberation. And, He made it clear that Ma Vuong asked him to enter Nirvana for him to hear.
Mr. A-Nan went out to prostrate and asked the Buddha to stay in the world. The Buddha did not accept, he said: "I have made a promise to Mara. I didn't say two words. And, why did I mention before, you didn't invite, now is not the time!"
Mr. A-Nan is sad!
The Buddha said: "Don't worry, everything is the same! All conditioned dharmas belong to impermanence, and love and affection must be separated from each other!"
III. GROUP MEETING-PASS
The Blessed One said to Ananda: "Now go and tell all the bhikkhus in the assembly halls, in this vast forest, to return to the great assembly hall!"
Ananda obeyed the Buddha's instructions, and went to tell all the bhikkhus, "The World-Honored One tells you all about the Great Assembly Hall!"
The bhikkhus gathered in large numbers, Ananda said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! The bhikkhus all returned to the meeting in large numbers, respectfully requesting the Tathagata to know the scheduled time for that meeting."
At that time, the Tathagata, from the Chorten to the Great Hall, spread his throne and sat down and said to the bhikkhus: "Once upon a time, I uttered all the dharmas for you, and you always pondered. -Think and practice these dharmas, don't forget them! The monks practiced the holy life for purity, kept the precepts, and benefited the gods and the people of the world. Bhikkhus! In the past, whatever dharmas I said for you, you should think about those dharmas, and not be lazy. I say the thirty-seven dharmas, such as: the four foundations of mindfulness, the four right efforts, the four mental states, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven enlightenment factors, and the eight noble paths, you should practice, think diligently, these dharmas can make you come to the place of liberation!
Again, bhikkhus! All dharmas are impermanent, life-threatening, like lightning, you should not be born loose! You should know: The Tathagata will soon enter Nirvana in just three months!"
At that time, the World-Honored One spoke in verse:
I want to give up this body,
The old and weak body.
Now discharge the life expectancy,
Take refuge for three months!
Those who should be converted,
All done;
So soon,
I will enter Nirvana.
The Dharma I spoke of in the past, the
Dharma is your teacher;
The respectful, keep,
practice do not forget!
You need to improve,
Like I live differently?
Life-and-death is too perilous,
Body-Life is impermanent!
Often expect the way to liberation,
Don't create a let-go!
Main mindfulness, pure contemplation,
Keeping the full precepts forbidden.
Intention, straight thinking,
Out-of-scenes, suppressed love.
If anyone can do that,
Is the legal guardian.
Self to the place of liberation,
Benefit both Human, Heavenly.
After the bhikkhus heard these words of the Buddha, their hearts were greatly distressed, they were weeping profusely, their bodies were flushed with blood, and their brains were filled with sadness, and they said to the Buddha: "Lord World-Honored One. ! I respectfully request the World-Honored One, to stay in the realm of longevity, not to enter Nirvana, to benefit sentient beings, and to increase human and celestial beings. I respectfully ask that the World-Honored One, stay in the realm of longevity, and not enter Nirvana, open the eyes of wisdom to sentient beings. All sentient beings who have fallen in a dark place, respectfully ask the Tathagata for them to give them light. All sentient beings sunk in the great ocean of birth and death, I respectfully ask the Tathagata to make boats to rescue them!"
When the White House was finished, the Bhikkhus again crossed their arms, pulled their heads, beat their breasts, and cried out: "Alas, what a pain! The Tathagata will soon enter Nirvana, where do all sentient beings take refuge!"
The World-Honored One said to the bhikkhus: "All dharmas are impermanent, united by love, and must be separated. You should not invite me to stay in the world! What happen? - Now is not the time for you to encourage me! In the past, I told you the essential dharmas for you, you should obey them completely, just like I am in this world!”
The day was dark, the World-Honored One and Ananda returned to the Chong-Lecture halls.
COMPENDIUM
The Buddha told Mr. Ananda to go and invite all the Bhikkhus to meet at the Great Gymnasium.
In full, the Buddha out of the meeting.
He advised the Bhikkhus to keep the precepts of pure happiness, to benefit the Humans and the Heavens; thirty-seven products he taught, need to practice, think diligently will reach the place of liberation; things are impermanent, life-threatening quickly, should not be let go.
And, at last he told the bhikkhus that after three months he would enter nirvana.
The bhikkhus wept and asked the Buddha to stay in the world, he said: "Things are impermanent, affection must be separated, you should not invite me anymore, the things I said before , you should obey it completely, it's no different in times like I am in life!"
Having finished, he returned to the Chong-Archdiocese and will continue his journey tomorrow.
IV. Buddha Meets the Sect
The next morning, the World-Honored One put on a robe, carried a bowl, and went with Ananda to the city for alms. After begging for food, he returned to Chong-the lecture halls. After eating, he rinsed his mouth, washed it practically, and then he and the Bhikkhus went to the village of Can-tu.
The way to this village must pass through the city of Vi-Da-Ly. When he passed this city, he turned around, looked up at the city, and smiled. Mr. Ananda saw this, bowed his head at the feet of the Buddha, and asked the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! The Supreme Being, the Supreme Being, must have a smile on his face, so I respectfully ask the World-Honored One to let me know!"
The Buddha replied: "Mr Ananda! The reason I'm smiling is because this is the last time, I see this city!"
While the Tathagata uttered these words, in the void, without clouds, it rained naturally. Ananda saw this and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Very strange, pure space, not covered by any low air, suddenly rained down with such a heavy rain?"
The Buddha said to Mr. Ananda: "Mr. Ananda! Do you know what's wrong, it's the gods in the sky, hear me say this is the last time I see this city of Vairocana, the gods' hearts are so heartbroken, they cry with compassion snakehead. Those are the tears of the gods, not the rain!"
Mr. Ananda and the other monks, hearing the Buddha say this, their hearts became sad again, sadly fainted on the ground, said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Today, the gods and humans are suffering too much, how could the World-Honored One want to let go of everything and enter Nirvana!"
The Tathagata immediately comforted them with a blasphemy: "Gentlemen! You should not give birth to worry-sadness, grief-stricken mind!.
The Bhikkhus said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Now, for the last time, the World-Honored One will look at this Vairocana city, and it won't be long before the World-Honored One will enter Nirvana, how can we not be sad and miserable!"
Gradually like that, people said to each other, the word spread to even the people of the Ly-Sa (Licchavi) line[18]. This Lyza, having heard these words, was filled with sorrow, with blood all over their bodies, waving their arms, scratching their heads, beating their breasts, and crying out: "Alas, what a pain! The eyes of the world are about to be lost; sentient beings today have no place of refuge anymore!”
Then they said to each other, "Now we should go to the Buddha's place, and urge him to stay in Vairocana and stay in the world for a kalpa or a kalpa, benefiting the gods, the people of the world". Having said that, they immediately adjusted their vehicles and went right to the Buddha's place.
Out of the city gate, they saw the Tathagata in the distance, and saw Ananda, with the monks, weeping and weeping, sad, clothed, the Ly people. the more touching, the more compassionate. They immediately went to the place where the Buddha was, bowed down to the Buddha's feet and said, "O World-Honored One! Now, the World-Honored One, about to enter Nirvana, all living beings will lose the eye of wisdom; Beings are in a dark place, how can they see what should be done? May the World-Honored One stay for one kalpa or not one kalpa, enter Nirvana!”
They invited the World-Honored One three times, and the Buddha replied: "All conditioned dharmas[19] are impermanent; whether I stay in the realm of life for one kalpa or not for one kalpa, I will return to impermanence!”
At that time, the Tathagata said a verse:
Mount Tu-Di is high,
Sau must also be destroyed.
Even though the sea is wide and deep,
it must also dry up.
Japan, the moon, though in the morning,
Some Western diving.
The earth is solid,
Bearing all things;
Life ends fire burning karma,
Also back to impermanence.
The union of love,
All to the place of separation.
As-Come-back past life,
Body-diamond-indestructible;
Also being transferred by impermanence,
Am I different now?
The Buddha Dharma is like that,
You should not ask;
Not only for me,
But born worry, sad!
When the Blessed One had finished speaking that verse, he told the Lyza clansmen: "You should stop crying and listen carefully to the Tathagata's last words!"
The other Lyxas said: "How precious, O World-Honored One! Please tell us, we wish to hear."
At that time, the Tathāgata spread out his cushions, sat down to join the husband and wife, the monks, and the other Lyza clansmen, restrained themselves, and sat to one side. The Blessed One said to the other Lyzas: "You should know that there are seven methods, which are progressing more and more: First, being cheerful and harmonious, not contradicting each other. Second, be enlightened together and talk about good karma. Third, keep the precepts and keep the rituals. Fourth, respect parents and other elders. The fifth is, close-to-be-compassionate, mutually agreeable. Sixth, domestic temple towers, repair-make offerings. Seven is, obey the Buddha-Dharma, respect the Bhikkhu-Khmer and Bhikkhu-ni; lovingly helping the Upasakas and Upasakas. If anyone is willing to do these seven dharmas, that person's prestige and virtue will increase day by day, the country will prosper, and the people will be happy. From now until the end of your life, you should observe these seven dharmas and not be lazy!"
Those of the Lyza lineage said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Out of these seven dharmas, if we can only cultivate one dharma, but also increase our prestige, how much more can we fully cultivate all seven dharmas! How precious, O World-Honored One! Now that we have this benefit, we will obey it for the rest of our lives, not daring to forget it!"
The Buddha said to the bhikkhus: "From now on, you should also practice the following seven dharmas: First, being joyful and in harmony, like water and milk. Second, often gather together to lecture on the sutras. Third, keep the precepts forbidden, do not generate thought-violation. Fourth, revere the teacher and the Supreme Beings. Fifth, take care of the arrangement and respect the Bhikkhus who meditate in Alanta. Sixth, promoting the Vietnamese lute, repairing the Three Jewels and resting places in the abode. Seven is diligently striving to uphold the Buddha-Dharma. You should know, if any bhikkhu can do these seven dharmas, his merit and wisdom will increase day by day!”
“Bhikkhus! Again there are seven dharmas, you should practice: First, you shouldn't be like a household-business-business. Second, do not talk nonsense, joke. Third, do not crave sleep-rest, give up diligence. Fourth, do not discuss useless worldly things. Fifth, stay away from evil friends, stay close to good friends. Sixth, often thinking righteous thoughts, not giving birth to wrong thoughts. Seventh, if in the Buddha-Dharma, there is a place to be certified, to further progress. If you can do these seven things, your merit and wisdom will increase day by day.”
“Bhikkhus! There are seven more dharmas that you should do: First, towards the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha, generate firm faith. Second, be ashamed. Third, know tigers. Fourth, the mind is often eager to listen a lot. Fifth, the mind is not shocked. Sixth, eager to hear the meaning of sutras. Seven is, desire to practice-intellectual. If you cultivate these seven dharmas, your merit and wisdom will increase day by day.”
“Bhikkhus! Again there are seven "enlightenment-mind" [20], you should do: First, investigate the dharma (choose the dharma). Second, fine-advancement. Third, joy (happy). Fourth, disdain (mild-joyful). Five is, mindfulness (remember to think). Six is, concentration (meditation). Seven is, discharge (to shake off). If you can do these seven dharmas, your merit and wisdom will increase day by day.”
“Bhikkhus! Again there are seven dharmas: One is contemplating impermanence. Second, the shop of no-self. Third, contemplation of impurity. Fourth, contemplating suffering. Fifth, do not be greedy for the world. Sixth, do not love the five-sex[21]. Seventh, diligently cultivate the path of cessation (Nirvana). If you can do these seven dharmas, your merit and wisdom will increase day by day.”
“Bhikkhus! Again there are seven dharmas, you should do: First, the body often does good (from). Second, the mouth often heals. Third, the mind often does good. Fourth, if there is a Vietnamese lute, give everything, distribute it equally, and should not be biased. Fifth, deep-rooted Dharma, eager to talk without getting bored. Sixth, don't teach people from worldly books. Seventh, seeing people who do not study, do not generate jealousy. If you cultivate these seven dharmas, your merit and wisdom will increase day by day.”
“Bhikkhus! Again there are seven dharmas, you should do: One is, clearly distinguish nine sets of dharmas[22]. Second, clarify that meaning. Third, the practice of the Way, the practice of chanting, must be timely. Fourth, walking, standing, sitting, lying down in the correct manner. Fifth, preaching to people who have to measure their own strength. Sixth, if brahmins, slays, elders, and laypeople, want to listen to the dharma again, they should compare and speak according to the basis of their faculties. Seven is, divide the stupid, wise. If you can do these seven dharmas, your merit and wisdom will increase day by day, you will be able to maintain my righteous dharma!”
At that time, the wives of the Lysa people heard that the Buddha would soon enter Nirvana, and this was the last time he looked at the city of Vidaly, their hearts were very depressed, mourning and weeping. , together with five hundred relatives, procured five hundred chariots, carrying offerings. All the cars are dignified: the chariot is pulled by the white buffalo, and the pure white flags are hung; until the purple, black, and yellow colored carriages..., all follow the color of buffalo that is bare-metal. The cars were dignified, they went out of the city one by one to the Buddha's place.
At that time, when the Blessed One saw them from afar, he said to the bhikkhus: Have you seen the wives of the Lysa lineage, before and after, they are very beautiful-- Strictly, beautiful to go here?
The bhikkhus replied: "Yes, we have seen it."
The Buddha said to the bhikkhus: "These are the Lyxas, the bourgeois and their wives from this city of Vairocana, their entrance and exit, very polished, like The gods in the Dao-li heaven are no different!"
When the wives of the other Lyza line arrived at the Buddha's place, they bowed their heads to the Buddha's feet, mourning and weeping, unable to restrain themselves; they brought offerings to the Buddha and said: "O World-Honored One! May the World-Honored One stay in the realm of life and teach sentient beings. If now the World-Honored One entered Nirvana, we would be blind and forever unable to be enlightened. Furthermore, we are fortunate enough to be born in the female body, often have obstacles, are not free, and have no predestined relationship to always be close to the World-Honored One, and the World-Honored One is about to enter again. Nirvana, our good roots are getting worse and worse!"
At that time, the Tathagata immediately replied: "From now on until the end of life, you should keep the precepts diligently, like someone who keeps an eye; righteous thoughts, don't give birth to flattery, jealousy, that means seeing me often!" The wives of the other Lyza lineage, hearing the Buddha say that, became more and more compassionate, sad, unable to restrain themselves, and sat back to one side.
At that time, the righteous-faced Ambra (Amra), the first in the world, heard the Buddha shortly, will enter Nirvana, this is the last time, he looks at the city of Bhikkhu- Da-Ly, she was filled with compassion, clothed in brains, and wept bitterly, together with her five hundred relatives, dignified five hundred chariots, one by one, went out of the city to the destination. Buddha.
At that time, when the Blessed One saw them from afar, he said to the bhikkhus: "Gentlemen! Now the Am-brahma has come to Me, and her appearance is wonderful and wonderful, in all the world, no one can match her. All of you should be judicious, righteous thoughts, not having thoughts of infatuation. As a bhikkhu should contemplate this body, there are unclean things: liver, bile, stomach, intestines, heart, lungs, kidney, spleen, excrement, excrement, blood, pus, etc. unclean things, there are eighty thousand insects right there, and the hair, hair, nails, teeth, thin skin covered with flesh, nine holes that flow often[23]..., nothing can be enjoyable. . Again, the first basis that gives birth to this body, through the place of the impurity and the habitability of this body, causes the impurity to flow. Although they are adorned with colorful silks and incense, they are likened to being in a treasure pot containing unclean things. And, the body at death, rotten, decayed, burning and burning loose, in the body there are worms, eating meat again; still being pecked by a leopard, an owl, a falcon... pecking at. People of the world are ignorant, do not know how to contemplate righteously, indulge in love, keep it until death, and in it, hope and lust arise. Who is wise and wants to be like that?"
The World-Honored One then uttered a verse:
Although wearing his clothes [24],
Huong, self-repaired flowers;
Stool, solution with the same nose, drool,
Real-pure filled in.
Sentient beings cherish, keep,
Me-lam not enlightened;
Just as the ashes cover the fire,
so do the fools go up.
Wisdom-false should avoid,
Do not generate mind-contamination first.
At that time, Am-brahma came before the Buddha, bowed with her head to the feet of the Buddha, brought offerings, made offerings to the Buddha, swallowed her tears, and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! May the World-Honored One stay in the long-life, stay in the world, not enter Nirvana, and benefit the gods and people of the world. If the World-Honored One intends to enter Nirvana, all sentient beings will have no one to guide them, like a child who has lost a good mother!"
At that time, the World-Honored One said to Ambara: "The nature and characteristics of all such things, now you should not have a mind of compassion!"
The World-Honored One immediately preached the Dharma for everyone to hear at the Buddha: "Hey guys! From now on, you should keep the precepts, not omissions or violations. Those who break the precepts, the gods, the dragons, the demons, are all disgusted, the bad reputation is spread, and people don't want to see it; if in them, there is no mighty virtue, the good-demonic spirits are not guarded; When life is about to be lost, the mind is afraid and even though there is some good karma, it does not remember to think, dies immediately according to karma, suffers in hell, goes through many lives, only to be released and suffer again. make the body fall-demons, animals-animals. Just rotate, so, do not know when will be liberated. On the contrary, the Bhikkhu-precepts keep the precepts, Thien, dragon, ghost-god, are all reverent, good reputation spread all over, the whole world or; in the assembly, the mighty virtue flourishes, the good and evil spirits often follow the guardians, when their destiny is about to die, their righteous thoughts are divided,
In the midst of the Tathagata speaking of that Dharma, sixty-eight thousand billion Thien, Human eight sets of far-off-naked-structure[25] were pure-eyed French[26]; sixty Bhikkhus, all contraband-karma, mind-declaration-explanation[27], into Arahantship[28].
At that time, the Blessed One said to the Lyza clans, their wives, and the Ambara woman: "Now that I want to go to the village of Can-do, you should all return to your places of residence, and you should know: all signs (things) are impermanent, you should only practice according to the dharmas I said, you shouldn't act like a crying child, taking pity on your clothes- Brain!"
Having said that, the World-Honored One immediately got up from his seat. The Lyxas, with their wives and Am-brahma, heard the Buddha say this, beat their breasts, ripped their heads off, cried out, wept, followed the Buddha's footsteps and refused to return.
The World-Honored One, seeing such deep affection, was unable to comfort him with words, so he used his supernatural powers to transform the river into flood, its banks deep, and the waves to flow. soaring. At that time, the Lysa people, their wives, and the Am-brahma saw the Tathagata, the Bhikkhus already on the other side of the river, and were all more moved, compassionate, and sad. filthy, struggling to roll on the ground, whispering to each other: "Strange, suddenly there is this big river here, but there are waves crashing in fear? Surely the Tathagata saw that we were following and did not give up, but turned it into such a way, so that we could end the way!" The other Lyzas, with their wives and the Ambala, could not cross the river, and returned even more sobbing, choking, choking, and desperate to return.
At that time, when the Tathagata came to the village of Can-tu, he sat in the northern forest and said to the bhikkhus, saying: "You should know that there are four dharmas: One is morality, two is concentration, three is wisdom, and four is wisdom. is Liberation, if anyone does not hear and know these four dharmas, that person will forever be in the pool of birth and death. In the past, if I hadn't heard of these four dharmas, I wouldn't have been able to realize the path and fruition of the Unsurpassed Righteous Enlightenment!
The World-Honored One then uttered a verse:
Precepts, Concentration, Wisdom, Liberation,
If I do not listen for long;
Unable to quickly prove,
the true-unsurpassed Tao.
You should be diligent,
Tu-practice the four French;
End the suffering of birth-and-death, The
most blessed field of Heaven and Humanity.
Having said that verse, the Blessed One again distinguished and expounded the meanings of these four dharmas for the sake of the monks. While the Tathagata spoke these dharmas, one thousand two hundred bhikkhus, instantly, with regard to all dharmas, finished with their defilements, opened their minds, and became an arahant.
COMPENDIUM
On the way to Can-do village, you have to go through the city of Vi-da-ly.
When the Blessed One passed through this city, he looked up and smiled - his smile signifying farewell.
In the meantime the gods in the sky wept, tears falling like rain. The bhikkhus are sad again!
Therefore, the Lysa people, in the city of Vidaly heard about it, gathered together to worship the Buddha and asked the Buddha to stay in the world, the Buddha taught: "Things are impermanent: Mount Tu-di , the vast sea, the sun, the moon, the earth, the love, the vajra body... are all moved by impermanence! Well, don't ask me anymore! Please listen carefully to what I have to say about the following seven dharmas: 1/ Have fun, get along with each other. 2/ Enlighten each other and discuss good karma. 3/ Keep precepts and rituals. 4/ Respect your parents and elders. 5/ Dear-liked-reconciliation-reciprocal-reconciliation. 6/ Repairing, making offerings to temples and pagodas in the country. 7/ Keeping the Buddha-Dharma, respecting Bhikkhus and cherishing good men and women.
He turned to the Bhikkhus, teaching them many practical dharmas that need to be practiced[29].
After that, the wives of the Lyxas came to worship the Buddha and also asked the Buddha to stay in the world. The Buddha did not accept the advice and advised: "You should keep your precepts diligently and your thoughts straight, don't brag, be jealous, just like I am in this world!"
It was the turn of Am-bra.
She is a person of great beauty. In order to prevent their minds from arising, before she arrived, the Buddha told the assembly about the contemplation of impurity.
She came, bowed to the Buddha, invited the Buddha, and the Buddha taught as well as the people who came before.
Once again, he advised all to keep the precepts pure, not to fall short. And, he talked about the advantages and disadvantages of people who keep the precepts and break them.
Finally, he said goodbye to the village of Can-do.
Because of the charm of everyone who decided to follow him and not return, he had to turn into a river separating the two sides in order to go.
Arriving in Can-Do village, he taught the Bhikkhus about the four dharmas: Precepts, Concentration, Wisdom and Liberation.
V. 4 FOUNDATION AND 4 DECISIONS
After that, the World-Honored One and the Bhikkhus got up from their seats and went to Tuong village, Am-brah village, Jam-fu village, as far as Thien Gia city. Arriving in that city, he and the bhikkhus walked around before and after, and then sat in one place. The Blessed One told the bhikkhus: "There are four Noble Truths, you should carefully observe: One is the Truth of Suffering. The second is the Noble Truth. Third, the cessation of truth. Fourth, Dao-Truth.
Bhikkhus! The Truth of Suffering is the eight sufferings: First, the suffering of birth, the second, the suffering of old age, the third, the suffering of illness, the fourth, the suffering of death, the fifth, the suffering of not getting what you want, the sixth, Suffering of hatred must be reunited, seven, suffering of love must separate, eight, suffering in warm years[30] flourishing. You should know: those eight kinds of suffering and the oppressive dharma, so it's really suffering.
THE TRUTH: Ignorance and craving is the basic cause of the other eight sufferings, so you should know that this Truth is really the cause of suffering.
The Cessation of the Truth: Ignorance, craving, cessation, and the cessation of human suffering, should know that this Cessation of Truth is cessation.
TRUTH-READ: That is, the eight-right path (eight main paths): One is, right view (right understanding, right thought), secondly, right thought (righteous thinking). ), third is, right speech (righteous speech), fourth is, righteous action (righteous action) five is, righteous life (righteous living profession), six is righteous conduct- progress, seven is righteous thoughts (remember to think righteously), eight is right concentration. Those eight dharmas are indeed the path of the Saints. If anyone diligently contemplates these four Noble Truths, he will definitely be far away from the pool of birth and death, and reach the place of liberation.
Bhikkhus! Of those four Noble Truths, if anyone has reached the end, he should also try to explain it to others. After my extinction, you should also diligently think and practice."
In the midst of this German Tathagata speech, five hundred Bhikkhus, all contraband-karma, mind-opening, into A-la-Han; Forty thousand gods in the air, because of this dharma, are separated from the mundane, and have the pure Dharma eye.
The Blessed One again told the bhikkhus: "There are four decisive dharmas regarding speech: (determining): First, if there is a bhikkhu who is eager to preach the Dharma, he says: 'I am dear to you. following the Buddha, listening to the Buddha speak such dharma, I clearly understand the meaning of that dharma and I receive, maintain, read and recite it very well”; you should ask him to speak, but should you follow what you hear, think for yourself, clearly, right in the sutras, laws, and commentaries (dharma-character) have that dharma? If there is such law in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should uphold it and praise it. If there is no such law in the Sutras, Disciplines, and Commentaries, you should neither accept it, uphold it, nor praise it. You should know: that Dharma is not what I speak."
Second, if there is a bhikkhu who wants to preach the Dharma and says, "I'm over there... listening to other bhikkhus receive such a dharma, I fully understand the meaning of that dharma. And I receive, read and recite very well”; you should ask him to speak, but, should you listen to that dharma, think for yourself clearly, right in the sutras, laws, and treatises with that dharma? If there is such law in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should receive, maintain, and praise it. If there is no such dharma in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should not receive and uphold it, nor should you praise it. You should know that this dharma is not said by me nor by other bhikkhus.
Third, if there is a bhikkhu, who is eager to preach the Dharma, says: "I followed that place of Sangha-lam, [32] there, that place of Arahantship[33], there were many high-ranking bhikkhus. All of you are good listeners, well-studied, intelligent, and wise, who speak this Dharma, I hear it, I understand its meaning well, and I receive, uphold, read and recite it very well." ; you should ask him to speak, but, should you listen to that dharma, think for yourself clearly, right in the sutras, laws, and treatises with that dharma? If there is such law in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should receive, maintain, and praise it. If there is no such dharma in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should not receive and uphold it, nor should you praise it. You should know: that Dharma is not what I speak."
Fourth, if there is a bhikkhu who is eager to preach the Dharma, saying: "I followed that place of Sangha, that place of Alanna, there was a monk who was highly seated, wise, listen a lot, speak out about it, I hear it, I understand clearly the meaning of that law and I accept, maintain, read and recite very well”; you should ask him to speak, but should you follow the place where you hear that dharma, think for yourself clearly, right in the sutras, laws, and treatises with that dharma? If there is such law in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should receive, maintain, and praise it. If there is no such law in the Sutras, Laws, and Commentaries, you should not receive and maintain it, nor should you praise it! You should know that this dharma is not what I speak.”
You should clearly distinguish the four dharmas that determine that speech, and also use that dharma to distinguish preaching and transmitting to others.
Whether I'm still in the world or I'm in Nirvana, lying or being truthful, you guys who use that dharma know that!"
At that time, the Bhikkhus said to the Buddha: "How precious, O World-Honored One! From now on, we would like to distinguish between the Buddha's words and the ghost's words!"
COMPENDIUM
Through Tuong village, Am-bra village, and Jam-fu village, the World-Honored One and the Bhikkhus came to Thien Gia city. Here, he taught bhikkhus to carefully contemplate the Four Noble Truths: the Truth of Suffering, the Noble Truth, the Truth of Cessation, and the Truth of the Way.
He again taught them about the four decisive dharmas of speech: Those four dharmas are:
1/ If there is any bhikkhu who says that his body follows the Buddha, hears it, understands its meaning, receives, maintains, reads and recites it, and is very helpful, then you should take that place where you can hear it, and reflect on it. whether it is in accordance with the sutras, laws, and theories or not. If true, you should receive, maintain, and praise. Otherwise, that's okay, because that dharma is not what I speak.
2/ Is there any Bhikkhu who said that in the place where the other Bhikkhu-Khikkhus heard that Dharma, etc., should also think as above.
3/ Is there any bhikkhu who said that in that place of Sangha-lam, that Arahantship, there were many high-ranking bhikkhus who spoke the Dharma and heard it, etc. think above.
4/ Is there any Bhikkhu who said that there was a good high-ranking Bhikkhu who spoke the Dharma and that he was heard, etc., should also think as above.
He continued: “You should clearly distinguish the four decisive dharmas for speaking, and also use those four methods to distinguish between preaching the Dharma and transmitting it to others. Whether I am in the world or enter Nirvana, lie or be truthful, you will know that by using this Dharma!"
BECAUSE. FUCK-BA-DUC-KINGS OF KIDS
At that time, the World-Honored One and the monks all got up from their seats and went to the village of Cuu-ba. Arriving in that village, he and the bhikkhus, walked around front and back, then sat down under a tree.
At that time, the Brahmins, Elders, and laypeople in that village, when they heard that the Buddha had come to their village, all flocked to the Buddha's place. Arriving at the place, bowed his head to the Buddha's feet, then sat back to one side, said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Now that the World-Honored One and the Bhikkhus have come to our village, we personally have a different interest!"
The Tathagata immediately replied: "After three months I will enter Nirvana, so from the city of Vairocana, going around the hamlet, I came to this village one after another!"
Everyone heard the Buddha say that, mourning and weeping, sadly rolling to the ground, waving their arms, shaking their heads, beating their chests, shouting: "Alas, what a pain! The eyes of the world are gone, we will soon lose our place of direction and guidance!"
Then they cried out, saying, "Lord, World-Honored One! May the World-Honored One stay in the long-life for one kalpa or not one kalpa."
The Blessed One replied, "You should not be so sad! What happen. - Nature, the general of the conditioned dharma like that. You should give up worrying and worry, and listen to me for the last time!"
At that time, the others, forced to restrain themselves, lowered their heads and listened. At that time, sitting there in a throne room, there was a brahmin, named Pusutta-oka, a man of wisdom, wisdom, listening a lot, remembering well, and the Tathagata immediately told him. He said: “You should know that lay people have four dharmas, which they should practice: First, respect their parents, and wholeheartedly nurture them. Second, often bring good Dharma, teach wife and children. Third, love, miss me, know what they have or not. Fourth, stay close to good-knowledge, stay away from evil people. If you regularly do these four dharmas, you will be loved and respected in this life, and in the next life you will often be born in a good place.
Again, Mr. Pussy-Dharma! Household people have four happy things: First, they don't owe other people's money, and they don't have a shy face. Second, a person who is very rich, regrets not daring to use anything, even his parents, wife and children, relatives and relatives, do not provide for and do not make offerings to the recluses, brahmins and monks. subject. Third, the person is very rich, wears a beautiful dress, has a delicious mouthfeel; know how to make offerings to parents, relatives, and relatives, all providing for and serving the recluse and brahmin. Fourth, people get three karma: body, speech, mind, do not do evil; intelligent-intellectual, loves to listen a lot.
You should know: people at home have that fun, but, people who don't owe other people and people only have a mind of greed, at that time it's called the ultimate fun; Those who do almsgiving is a pleasant dharma of the middle class, and those whose bodily, verbal, and mental karmas, do not create evil, are intelligent, wise, love to hear a lot, then that dharma is a pleasant dharma. above all (supreme victory)”.
The Tathagata then spoke in verse:
No debt and covetousness,
Call it summer fun,
Having something to give alms,
It's middle-class fun.
Three karma is always clean,
Wisdom-Intelligence, likes to hear a lot;
That's the most fun, the
wise man works hard.
From today,
Until the end of life;
Young and old teach each other,
Do the middle, upper class.[34]
At that time, the Buddhas and disciples said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! From now on, we would like to bring the Dharma middle and the Dharma above (most of all), open up and guide each other!"
At that time, the Buddhas of the Buddha, five hundred people, were in front of the Buddha, taking the three refuges[35] and the five precepts[36]. The other Buddhas said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One and the Bhikkhu-Bhikkhu Sangha, tomorrow we will gladly accept our offerings." The Tathagata implicitly consents.
The Pratyekabuddhas, knowing that the Buddha had consented, immediately got up from their seats, and together with the others worshiped here, they all bowed down to the Buddha.
Arriving at their homes, they spent the night shopping for delicious and fragrant food and drinks. The next day, when it was time to eat, they sent a faithful person to tell the Buddha: "Dear Lord, knowing when it's time to get married, the preparation is done!"
At that time, the Tathagata and the bhikkhus, surrounding the Buddha, came to the house of the Buddhas and his family. When you get there, take turns sitting down. Mr. Buddha, seeing the Buddha and the Sangha, all settled down, he went to get water, and made a mockery of food and drink with his own hands. As for the five hundred Brahmins, elders, and lay people, they all brought delicious meals to that house and made offerings to the Buddha.
In the middle of the meal, among the bhikkhus, there was a person who did not properly maintain majesty in the body, brahmins, elders, and laypeople saw him like that, but in their hearts, they did not see him like that. happy.
The World-Honored One, knowing that people's minds were like this, immediately announced, "You should know that the Tathagata's righteous dharma is as deep as an ocean, incomparable. In the great pool, there are sentient beings whose bodies are very large, up to ten thousand six thousand yojanas, or there are sentient beings whose bodies are eight thousand yojanas long, whose bodies are four thousand yojanas long, whose bodies are one thousand yojanas long. do-week, body length one inch, half inch, to the extreme micro-body. The same is true of the Tathagata's dharma pool, in which there is one who has obtained the fruit of Arahantship, is full of three wise spells[38] and six magical powers,[39] who has great prestige and virtue, bringing blessings-- beneficial to Nhan-Thien and in it there are also the fruits of A-Na-Ham[40], Tu-Da-Ham[41], Tu-Da-Hoan[42], that is, there are also the get four results – four directions[43]; Even there are ordinary people who have not received any benefit. Therefore, you should not be in the dharma pool, giving rise to doubts!"
At that time the World-Honored One spoke in verse:
All rivers,
All flow to the sea.
Offering rice to Buddha and Sangha,
so is happiness about yourself!
After the Tathagata said that verse, he spoke all dharmas for everyone. In that dharma, five hundred people of the Pratyekabuddhas, freed from mundane suffering, attained pure Dharma eye.
COMPENDIUM
Arriving at Cuu Ba village, the Buddha and the monks came to sit under a tree.
The Brahmins, Elders, and laypeople among them, including Pratyekabuddha in the village, heard about it, gathered together to worship the Buddha, and learned that the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana. They cried and cried, asking the Buddha to stay in the world, but the Buddha did not accept and were comforted by him like so many times before.
At this point, he taught: "There are four dharmas that lay people should practice:
1/ Respect and take care of your parents.
2/ Bring good Dharma to teach wife and children.
3/ Love and help the servant.
4/ Near good friends, avoid evil friends.
He further taught: “The lay-person has four joys:
1/ Don't owe anyone.
2/ Rich, but frugally with himself, his parents, his relatives, etc.
3/ The giant knows how to dress, take care of his parents, his relatives, and serve the monks.
4/ Body, speech, mind, do not do evil, intelligent, wise, listen a lot.
These four classes of people, the first two are the ultimate happiness, the third is the middle class, and the fourth is the upper class. So, from now on you should follow the middle and upper ranks!"
Everyone who heard the Buddha's teaching was delighted, accepted the Three Refuges and the Five Precepts and asked the Buddha and the Sangha to come to their house tomorrow to receive their offerings.
During the meal, the taste is not serious, they see, their mind is not happy. The Buddha felt that, he taught: "In the great pool there are many different kinds of beings, big and small, in my Dharma pool too, there are those who have attained the Four Fruits and there are also ordinary people who have not yet attained the Four Fruits. What are the legal benefits? You should not be in doubt. And, knowing that making offerings to the Buddha, the Sangha, we will receive this blessing, just like the waters of all rivers, flowing into the ocean!"
Hearing the Buddha's words, people can stay away from the mundane and have pure Dharma eye.
VII. Mr. Thuan-Da Thanh Buddha
After that, the World-Honored One and the Bhikkhu-Bhikkhus got up from their seats, went forward again, to Baba. At that time, five hundred people of the Buddha-kingdom, mourned and cried, and sent their respects to the Tathagata, on their way, they returned to look at the grave, until they could no longer see them. just returned.
When the World-Honored One had come to Baba, in that city, there lived the son of a skilled craftsman, whose name was Cunda. Mr. Thuan-Da's house has a garden, very quiet, the Tathagata immediately surrounded by the Bhikkhus, before and after, went to the other garden.
Mr. Thuan-Da heard that the Buddha and the Sangha had come to his garden, was overjoyed, unable to restrain himself. He and his fellow men all came to the Buddha's place, bowed their heads to the Buddha's feet, then stood back to one side. , said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! We do not know the Blessed One, what is the reason for coming here, or is there any other intention?"
The Buddha replied: "Now I have come here because I will soon enter Nirvana, I want to see the last time!"
At that time, Mr. Thuan-Da and his fellows, hearing the Buddha's words, felt so heartbroken, so sad, they fell to the ground, passed out for a long time before they woke up, softly said to the Buddha: "Dear Lord, World-Honored One! Now that he has abandoned living beings, no longer showing compassion and recollection of them, does he want to enter Nirvana? Please stay in the world for one life or one life!" Immediately, he jerked his head again, beat his chest, and cried out: "Alas, what a pain! The eyes of the world are gone, all sentient beings from now on are immersed in the pool of birth and death, there is no time to get out! What happen? The Supreme Master has entered Nirvana!"
The World-Honored One said to Mr. Thuan-Da: "Now you should not give birth to worry and sorrow, all the practices of all dharmas are like that, being changed by impermanence; love-reunited, determined to separate at some point, so now you don't have to worry and be sad anymore!"
Mr. Thuan-Da immediately said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Now we also know that all actions are impermanent, love and affection must be separated but, the Supreme Being will enter Nirvana, how can we not be merciful, a-- brain okay!”
At that time, the World-Honored One said all the Dharma for his sake. When Mr. Thuan-Da heard that, his anxiety and sadness eased a bit, he got up from his seat, straightened his body and majesty, put on his right shoulder shirt, bowed down to the Buddha's feet, and said: "Lord, World-Honored One! Tomorrow, we respectfully ask the World-Honored One to accept our meager offerings!" The World-Honored One automatically consented.
At that time, Mr. Thuan-Da knew that the Buddha had consented, he bowed down to the Buddha's feet and retreated.
Mr. Thuan-Da returned home, all night shopping-preparing a lot of delicious food. The next day, when it was time to eat, he sent a faithful man to tell the Buddha: "May the World-Honored One know when it's time to get married, the preparation is done!"
At that time, the Tathagata and the Bhikkhus surrounded him in front and behind, and came to the house of Mr. When you get there, take turns sitting down. Mr. Thuan-Da saw that the Buddha was sitting. He immediately went to get water, and manually copied the dishes prepared into the bowl. The Buddha and the Sangha finished eating, washed the dishes, and returned to their old seats. Mr. Thuan-Da also sat. The Buddha said to Thuan-Da: "Now you have accomplished a rare blessing. Offering rice to the Buddha and the monks for the last time, that retribution never ends. All the blessings of all sentient beings planted, nothing can be compared with your blessings of offerings, you should generate your own joyful mind. Now, for the last time, I have accepted your invitation, I will not accept anyone's request for rice anymore!"
The World-Honored One immediately said verse:
He has now created,
A rare merit;
Finally, the
Buddha and the Bhikkhu-Khikkhu Sangha were offered rice .
The day of merit increases,
Forever never-exhausted.
Now he should himself,
Born very happy;
All the blessings of the creator, Ca
n't match yours!
COMPENDIUM
Arriving at Ba-ba, the Buddha and the Sangha came to rest in the garden of Mr. Thuan-Da's house.
Mr. Thuan-Da and his fellow-citizens heard about it, came to pay homage to the Buddha and inquired about his coming here. He taught: "I am about to enter Nirvana, so I want to come here to see the future."
Mr. Thuan-Da and everyone heard that sad-and-cry, asked the Buddha to stay in the world, in his time he comforted like so many people before.
Next, he invited the Buddha and the Sangha to come to his house for dinner tomorrow. Buddha was silent.
After the meal, the Buddha told Mr. Thuan-Da: Now you have done the rare blessing of making offerings to the Buddha, the Sangha for the last time. That blessing never ends. All the blessings of sentient beings cannot be compared with yours. You should start with joy. This is the last time I will accept your invitation!”
VIII. THE BUDDHA OF THE BUDDHA PHAT-CA-SA
When the World-Honored One had finished speaking this verse, he immediately said to Ananda: "Now, I feel sick, and I want to hurry to the city of Cuthina!"
At that time, Mr. Ananda, the Bhikkhus and Mr. Thuan-Da, hearing the Buddha say these words, were born in great pain, cried and cried, and could not restrain themselves.
At that moment, the World-Honored One got up from his seat, surrounded by monks, and went to the other city. Mr. Thuan-Da and his relatives also followed the Tathagata.
Half way, the Blessed One sat down to rest under a tree. He told Ananda: "Now I have a stomachache!" He relied on Ananda to go. Not far from that place, He spit blood again under the old tree, He said to Ananda: "You take the Sangha-lei robe, fold it fourfold on the ground, I want to sit down. I'm going to rest here, but I can't move forward!" Mr. Ananda obeyed the Buddha's instructions and did the same.
The World-Honored One sat down to rest under a tree and said to Ananda: "Now I'm thirsty, go to the Kakhuta River and bring back some clean water for me to drink!"
Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Just now, there were merchants with five hundred chariots crossing that river, afraid of the turbid water, unable to drink!"
Mr. Ananda said that three times. The Buddha told Ananda: "Go ahead!" Mr. Ananda took the bowl away, came to the riverbank, saw the river's water settle down, his heart was very scared, his whole body trembled, he thought to himself: "Just now I saw the merchants with five hundred This carriage crossing the river, the mind must still be opaque, but perhaps it will be clear, so I am contrary to the orders of the Tathagata!"
Thinking, he sealed the water and brought it home to offer to the Buddha and said: "Very strange, O World-Honored One! Just now I saw merchants with five hundred chariots crossing the river, before and after, the water was not clear within ten days, but thanks to the divine power of the Blessed One, it was clear in a moment. !”
The Buddha immediately brought water to drink.
At that time, there was a son of Man-la-sensei, whose name was Phat-Ca-Sa, who was a disciple of Sage-Kala. This man from the city of Cu-Thi-Na, to the city of Baba, in the middle of the road happened to see the Tathagata sitting under a tree resting. He immediately folded his hands to ask questions, then sat back to one side and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Dharma renunciation, zazen-meditation career is the first, because it tames the love-roots, makes the mind undisturbed, specializes in calmness, and is fearless. What happen? – Because, I remember: in the past, I followed my teacher, Calan the fairy, on the long road. When we were tired, we sat under a tree by the side of the road to rest. My teacher immediately meditated-thinking. In the meantime, there were merchants carrying fifty carts past, and my master was still sitting silently, his body unmoving. And, like that for a long time, my teacher just woke up from meditation. I immediately told my teacher that: "Venerable sir, when I was sitting here meditating, there were merchants with fifty carriages passing in front, the sound was like thunder, I don't know if you heard it?" My teacher replied, "I don't see anything." I asked again, "So did you hear the car go?" My teacher also replied that he did not hear. I said: "Venerable sir, now the reason why there are dusty stains on your shirt is caused by those passing cars!" At that time, I thought it was very strange and knew that the zazen practice is really respectable, because it subtly controls the emotions and doesn't cause any disturbance!" Now, the reason why there is dirt and dust on my shirt is caused by those passing cars!” At that time, I thought it was very strange and knew that the zazen practice is really respectable, because it subtly controls the emotions and doesn't cause any disturbance!" Now, the reason why there is dirt and dust on my shirt is caused by those passing cars!” At that time, I thought it was very strange and knew that the zazen practice is really respectable, because it subtly controls the emotions and doesn't cause any disturbance!"
The Blessed One replied to Putkasha, "What you have just said is not surprising. What happen? If there is a person who does not have to fall into a deep sleep, nor enter Cessation of Concentration[45], with a righteous mind, sitting in meditation, then five hundred carriages pass by, he still does not know or hear anything. , that's how strange it is!
Again, Mr. Putkasha! This is also not very strange. If there is a righteous person sitting in meditation, and encounters thunder rumbling and flashing, then two brothers who are plowing, hear that terrible sound, immediately die, and four nearby buffaloes also die. right away, but the other meditator does not know or hear anything, is that called strange? Mr. Putkasa said: O World-Honored One! Five hundred carriages passed before not knowing, not hearing, already strange, how much more thunder, lightning, rumbling earthquakes do not know, do not hear, time is very rare!"
The World-Honored One told Putkasha: "Once upon a time, I was sitting in meditation and thinking with my own mind under a tree in the village of Asama. At that time, there were merchants with five hundred carriages passing in front of my seat, I was thinking in meditation not knowing, not hearing anything. Those merchants, it took a long time to get out of my mind. As they walked, they looked back. When they saw me from afar, they rushed over, saw the dust and dirt on my clothes, they brushed it off and asked, "Just now, we and five hundred chariots passed here, Lord World -Did Ton see it? I replied, "I can't see it!" Again they asked: "The Blessed One closed his eyes, so he could not see, but must he hear a voice?" I replied, "I can't hear the sound either!" Again they asked: "Is the World-Honored One fast asleep or entering the cessation of concentration?" I replied, "I am neither fast asleep nor entering cessation-of-concentration, I was just in meditation thinking, so I didn't hear or see anything!" They heard what I said, they thought it was very strange, complimented it like never before, and said, "The power of zazen is like that!" I immediately told them all dharmas for them, and those merchants, because of all these dharmas, were far removed from mundane fads and attained pure dharma eye.
Again, Mr. Putkasha! The day before, I was sitting alone in the field on the other side of the village, quietly thinking and meditating. In a moment, suddenly thunder and thunder rumbled, and the wind and rain shook the heavens and the earth. At that time, two brothers who were plowing the field, suddenly heard these voices, and both were afraid and died; and four buffaloes also died. At that time, people in the other village, when they heard that two people were plowing, heard a thunderclap and were afraid to die, or their parents, wives, children, friends, relatives, and the people in the village were following, crying. ; at that time, I just woke up in meditation, saw the ground was full of muddy water, and there were many people, gathered and cried. There was a person walking by, I immediately asked, “Why are there so many people practicing on their own and crying?” The other replied, "Just now, the Blessed One didn't hear the sound of thunder and lightning?" There were two brothers from another family in my village, plowing the fields here, Two people were struck by lightning and all four buffaloes were killed at the same time, how could the World-Honored One not understand? Or, just now, the Tathagata was fast asleep, or did he enter the cessation of cessation? – I replied: “No, just now I did not fall asleep nor enter Cessation of Concentration, I am right-minded, silently meditating, so I did not hear that?” The other person heard the Buddha say that, thought it was very strange, praised never before. Their minds say to themselves: "Zen meditation has such power!" I immediately for them, told them all the dharma. They have heard the dharma, because in those dharmas, they are far away from the fabric of the world, and have pure dharma eye. so I didn't hear that?" The other person heard the Buddha say that, thought it was very strange, praised never before. Their minds say to themselves: "Zen meditation has such power!" I immediately for them, told them all the dharma. They have heard the dharma, because in those dharmas, they are far away from the fabric of the world, and have pure dharma eye.
At that time, Mr. Putkasa, hearing the Buddha's words, was born with a rare mind, and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Before, when I saw my teacher meditating, fifty carriages passed by, not hearing, not knowing anything, I thought it was strange; Now that the Tathagata says these two things, a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand times, nothing can be compared with the inconceivable and inconceivable power of meditation of the Tathagata!" Bach already, he followed the Buddha's tree of the Three Refuges. The Tathagata again told him all the mysterious dharmas. He had heard the Dharma, his mind was enlightened, he left the mundane structure, and his eyes were pure.
He immediately told the servant: "Go and take my two fine golden cloths, bring them to me, I want to make offerings to the Buddha!" The servant obeyed and brought the cloth; Putkasha held the cloth in his hand, knelt down in front of the Buddha, and said, "O World-Honored One! Now, I bring this cloth to the World-Honored One, I hope that the World-Honored One will love me and accept it for me!"
The World-Honored One replied to Putkasa: "Now, for your sincerity, I will accept one for you, and the other for you to offer to Ananda! What happen? "For Ananda is by my side day and night, and besides, today you take care of my infirmities, if there is a benefactor, giving alms to the sick, and taking care of the sick, That is called the fullness of great generosity (full of great generosity).”
Mr. Putkasa heard the Buddha say that, was overjoyed, immediately put a cloth at the Buddha's feet and took one to Ananda, knelt straight, said: "Now I bring the cloth This is an offering to the Venerable, hope that the Venerable will accept it!" Mr. A-Nan replied: "Precious, precious! Now that you believe in the word of the Heavenly-Sphinx, I wish you eternal peace, I accept your alms!"
Then Mr. Put-kasa, returning to the Buddha's place, the Buddha again for him, told all the Dharma. He has heard the Dharma and has attained the fruit of Anagamy. At that time, Putkasa said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Now I want to leave home in the Buddha-Dharma." The Buddha immediately called: "Good-laid-Bhikkhus!"[46] At that time, his beard and hair were clean, his casa [47] put on his body, he became a recluse, and attained Arahantship.
COMPENDIUM
After leaving his son at Mr. Thuan-Da's house, the Buddha saw that the person was sick. He immediately went with Mr. Ananda, the Bhikkhus and his relatives Thuan-Da to the city of Cuthina.
Halfway through, he had a stomachache, vomited blood, and had to rest under a tree.
He is thirsty. Ananda went to the Kakhuta River to fill up with water for him to drink.
By chance, the son of Manla the sage, whose name was Puccasa, a disciple of the sage Kalan, went from Cuthina to Baba, and met him here. .
After questioning the Buddha, he praised the career of zazen as the best, tamed emotional roots, mind is not confused, not afraid. He described that career of his teacher: one day while meditating under a tree by the side of the road, fifty carriages passed by without knowing it.
The Buddha said: There is nothing strange like that. Once upon a time I was meditating under a tree in the village of Asama, five hundred merchants' carriages passed, I heard nothing. Moreover, one day in the same village, I was meditating, it rained, lightning killed 2 plowmen and 4 buffaloes, but I didn't hear anything!
Mr. Put-kasa heard the Buddha say that, he was very impressed and asked to receive the Tam-gui.
Next, he offered the Buddha a fine golden cloth and offered one to Ananda, according to the Buddha's instructions.
And, here he asked to leave home according to the Buddha-dharma, to become a recluse, to attain Arahantship.
IX. NOTICE
At that time, from the face-door of the Tathagata, many rays of light were emitted: blue, yellow, red, white, crystal, and pink. Mr. Ananda immediately bowed down to the Buddha's feet, knelt straight, folded his hands, and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! I don't know if there is any cause and effect, but the World-Honored One appeared to him?"
The Buddha replied: Mr. Ananda! You should know that there are two times when I emit great rays of light: First, when I am about to become a Buddha under the Bodhi tree, I release great rays of light. Second, when I am about to enter Nirvana, I release a great light."
Mr. A-Nan! Do you know: I became Unsurpassed Righteous Enlightenment, belonging to the night, near dawn, the same time when I entered Nirvana! You should know: near the morning of this night, I will enter Nirvana, about the Sala tree line on the banks of the Nile River, where the athlete was born,[48], in the city of Cuthi. na!”
Having said that, the Bhikkhus, the gods of space, pity, cry and weep, unable to restrain themselves.
At that time, the World-Honored One, with the Bhikkhus, came to the Kakhuta River. At this point, the World-Honored One immediately went down to the river to bathe. Finished bathing. He and the Bhikkhu-Bhikkhu- Sangha, sitting by the riverside.
At that time, Mr. Thuan-Da, reproached his own mind, saying: "Is the World-Honored One, because of my meal offerings, born with a stomach ache, and is about to enter Nirvana?"
The World-Honored One knew that Thuan-Da thought so, and immediately said to Mr. Ananda: "Hey, Mr. Ananda! You should now know: All sentient beings, do not blame yourself that the Tathagata, because of my meal offerings, got sick in his body and entered Nirvana. What happen? - When the Tathagata was born, there were two classes of people who were the most blessed: First, when the Tathagata was about to become Unsurpassed Righteousness and Right Enlightenment, he brought food to offer. Second, when the Tathagata is about to enter Nirvana, offer the last meal. Those two types of people who make offerings are equally blessed, and have many, unspeakable retributions. Two kinds of people who make such offerings, even if it's hard to meet, like the Udumbara flower, once in a while, every time, only once!"
The Buddha immediately said to Mr. Thuan-Da: "Mr. Thuan-Da! His mind now has that concept. You shouldn't be self-repentant like that. He was given such unsurpassed preciousness that he should have born of his own happy, lucky heart. You should know: In hundreds, thousands, and thousands of kalpas, it is difficult to hear the Buddha's name. Although sometimes hearing the Buddha's name-name, but, seeing the Buddha is difficult. Although sometimes seeing the Buddha, it is difficult to make offerings easily. Although sometimes being offered, but, participating in the two classes of offerings as above, it is also very difficult. Now that you have obtained this fruit, you will soon be able to speak, wisdom, physical strength, and long life.”
Mr. Thuan-Da heard the Buddha say that, his heart was filled with joy, he couldn't help himself. He said to the Buddha: "Very happy, O World-Honored One! Now I have received such great benefit!”
The World-Honored One then uttered a verse:
“Blessed is the giver, the
benevolent is not resentful;
People who do good from evil,
People who are devoid of lust[50] have no brain.
If you do such conduct, you will
soon attain Nirvana."
The Buddha said that verse, he said to Mr. Thuan-Da: "Mr. Thuan-Da! Now you should bring the good news in this last offering, spread it all over the world, and make those who hear it happy forever!"
COMPENDIUM
After he converted him, Buddha, from the front-door, released a multicolored aura.
Mr. Ananda did not understand, bowed to the Buddha to ask about that cause and condition, the Buddha taught: "There are two periods of time when I emit great light, when I am about to attain enlightenment under the Bodhi tree and when I am about to enter the state of enlightenment. Nirvana. Before I attained enlightenment in the early morning hours of the night, even now I enter Nirvana! To-morrow morning, I will enter Nirvana under the sala tree, on the bank of the Nirvana River, where the Strongman was born, in the city of Cuthina!"
The bhikkhus and the devas in the sky were sad and weeping!
Immediately, the Buddha and the Sangha went to the Cakhuta River. Here he went down to the river to bathe. After bathing, he and all of them sat down by the riverside.
At that time, Mr. Thuan-Da blamed himself for the fact that he had offered rice and that the Buddha was in pain and passed away. Feeling this way, he immediately said to Ananda: "Let no living beings have the mind that because they are offering rice, the Buddha will pass away. Because, when the Tathagata was born, whoever offers a meal when he is about to attain enlightenment and a meal when he is about to pass away will be most blessed."
“Mr. Thuan-Da! You shouldn't think like that! In hundreds, thousands, and thousands of eons, is it easy to hear the Buddha's name, easily see the Buddha, easily make offerings to the Buddha, and easily participate in the two offerings above? You should rejoice in yourself, having been blessed with this blessing, and soon you will gain wisdom, strength, strength, and longevity. What cause, what effect!”
"Therefore, you should announce to everyone about the reward of this last offering, so that the listeners may also have peace."
X. THE BUDDHIST GOES TO SA-LA SONG-THUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
At that time, the World-Honored One said to Ananda: "Now I want to go to about the sala tree line[51] on the bank of the Nile River, where the strong man was born, in the city of Kou-chan. thi-na!”
Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "Yes, O World-Honored One! I beg you."
At that time, the Tathagata and the Bhikkhus, surrounded before and after, set out on the road. Crossing the Nile, the World-Honored One and the assembly stopped outside the Sala forest, where the strong-man was born in the city of Cuthina. He said to Ananda: "When he went into the Sala forest, he saw a place where there were rows of birch trees, in that particular place, he washed the bottom to make it clean, and he put a bed made of rope at the bottom of the forest. Yes, but with your head facing north. Now my body is so-tired!"
Mr. Ananda and the Bhikkhus heard the Buddha say that, and became more and more compassionate and sad! Mr. Ananda fell into tears, obeyed the Buddha's instructions and went. Arriving at that row of trees, he cleaned, arranged, everything was according to the law, then he returned and said to the Buddha: "Lord, World-Honored One! I cleaned, arranged, it's all done!"
At that time, the World-Honored One and the Bhikkhus entered the Sala forest, and came under the tree line. When he got there, he put his right hip on the bed, and lay with his legs crossed like a sleeping lion. He is committed, righteous thoughts.
At that time, a row of sala trees suddenly bloomed and fell on the body of the Tathagata. The World-Honored One immediately asked Ananda, "Have you seen that Sala tree that blooms out of season to make an offering to me?" Mr. Ananda replied: "Yes, Lord World-Honored One! Did you see it?” At that time, the gods, the eightfold dragon-gods, in the air, scattered precious flowers like flowers: Mandala, Maha mandala, Manthusa, Maha man -thus-sa[52] up on the Buddha; again sprinkled with the incense of the ox-head of the lamb; playing heavenly music and singing and praising.
The Buddha said to Ananda, "Have you seen the eight-fold devas in space making offerings to me?" - Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "Yes, Lord, World-Honored One! Did you see it?"
The World-Honored One said to Ananda: "If you want to make offerings to me, in order to repay favors, you must use heavenly incense, flowers, and heavenly music. Keeping the precepts of purity, reading and reciting scriptures, thinking about the profound meaning of the dharmas, that's how I make offerings!"
At that time, there was a bhikkhu named Upamana (Upamana) in the past, when the Tathagata had not yet brought Ananda in as his attendant, that bhikkhu used to keep watch. The Tathagata, now Uba-mana, seeing the Tathagata lying under the sala tree, his heart very painful, he immediately stood in front of the Buddha to be admired. Buddha for the last time. The World-Honored One immediately said to him, “Mr Upamana! You shouldn't stand in front of Me today!" Ubamana immediately stood back to one side.
Mr. Ananda saw this, and his mind was filled with doubts and doubts: "It's strange, I have served the Buddha since ancient times until now, for many years, I have never seen the Buddha speak like that, why today is the Tathagata? again not allowed to stand in front; Or, now that the Buddha Tathagata is about to enter Nirvana, not allowing anyone to stand in front of him to be sad and cry? Having thought that, Mr. Ananda bowed down at the Buddha's feet, knelt straight, folded his hands and said: "O World-Honored One! Up until now, when I served the Buddha, often I stood in front of the Blessed One, I never heard the Blessed One tell me to stand back, why does the Blessed One tell Ubamana to stand? avoid in front of me?”
The Buddha taught: "Mr Ananda! The disciples of the gods, the eightfold dragon gods,[53], hearing me lying on my right side under this row of sala trees, they scrambled to look at me, out of nowhere, cornering each other. to the earth, its four faces filled up to thirty-two yojanas; This Uba-mana bhikkhu, standing in front of me, the gods, was born with an unhappy mind, thinking that now the Tathagata is now under this row of sala trees, not too long. Once again will enter Nirvana, we want to see the Tathagata for the last time, but that bhikkhu is standing in front of the Buddha!" Because of that fate, I told him to stand back to the side.”
Do you know, Mr. Ananda, that among these eight sets, there are people who mourn and cannot help themselves, or those who are depressed and are about to faint, or who are so sad that they pull their hairs out with their hands. his head, or someone tore off the adornments of his body and all sang in unison: "Now that the Tathagata has entered Nirvana, why so quickly! The Tathagata was born, hard to meet, like the Udumbara flower from time to time, from time to time, but now, soon, he will enter Nirvana. Alas, so miserable! The eyes of the world are gone, and from now on, who should we take refuge and lead the way!" The Gods of Lycanthropy[54] also lamented: "Alas, the world is very impermanent, there is nothing that is born, but does not aim for the place of destruction!" The same gods, they said to each other: "Once upon a time, the Blessed One, either in the city of Vaisali, or in the city of Rajagrha, or in the kingdom of Sràvasti, and in other places, when he had settled down, Bhikkhus, from the four directions to inquire about the World-Honored One, on the side of the road we see the Bhikkhus, worship, make offerings, hear the sutras, receive many benefits; Now that the World-Honored One has entered Nirvana, the Bhikkhus, when they have settled down, do not return to visit as before, they travel everywhere, we must not be on the side of the road to see the Bhikkhus, bowing, making offerings, listening to the sutras, from now on we will forever lose those benefits."
At that time, the Tathagata said to Ananda: "If bhikkhus, bhikkhus, Upasakas, and Upasakas, after I have passed away, develop a mind to go to four places. of me in the past, they will have many incalculable merits and their birthplace in the future, often in the human and heavenly realms, enjoy the happy and unending retribution. What are those four places? - Firstly, when the Tathagata became a Bodhisattva, he was born in the Lumbini garden in the Kapilavastu country. Second, where I began to sit under the Bodhi tree (Boddhidruma) to attain unsurpassed righteous enlightenment, in the country of Magadha. Third, the place of the first turning of the Dharma wheel, in the garden of Mrgadàva (where the forerunners lived before), the country of Benares (Varanasi Benares). Fourth, the place where I entered Nirvana, about two rows of trees, in the Sala forest (Sàlavana) on the bank of the Nile River (Nairanjana) where the athlete was born, Kusinagara (Kusinagara). That's four places! If bhikkhus, bhikkhus, upasakas, upasi, and other non-Buddhists, develop the desire to go to other places to worship, they will all gain merit- virtue, as mentioned above.
Mr. Ananda heard the Buddha say that, he immediately said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! From now on, I will announce to all the four orders-they know these four places and if anyone goes to worship, such merit will be obtained."
At that time, Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! If the Upasakas have good intentions, keep all moral conduct, are eager to listen to the Dharma, and want to see a bhikkhu, how should we proceed from now on? The Buddha said: "From now on, you should not see each other!" Mr. Ananda said: "If you suddenly meet, what should you do?" The Buddha said: "Do not talk together". Mr. Ananda said: "If they don't talk, but they have a request, what should they do if they want to hear the Sutra?" The Buddha taught: "So, for them, preach the Dharma to them, but, you should be careful with your body, speech, and mind!" Mr. Ananda said: "Lord, World-Honored One! We will do so from now on.”
COMPENDIUM
At that time, the World-Honored One and the Bhikkhus went on their way.
Arriving at Sala forest, he and the crowd stopped and sent Ananda to repair the row of Sala double-tree trees.
After the repair was completed, he and all of them went into the forest. There he placed his right hip on the bed made of rope, his head facing north, his legs folded up like a sleeping lion. He is committed, righteous thoughts.
At that time, the eight-step Heavenly Dragon in the air scattered flowers, sprinkled incense, played Thien-music, and sang praises.
The Buddha told Ananda: "If you want to make offerings to me to repay favors, you must use heavenly incense, flowers, and heavenly music. Keeping the precepts forbidden purity, reading and chanting scriptures, thinking about the profound meaning of the dharmas, that's how you make offerings to me!"
The followers of Thien, the eight-foot dragons are too numerous. Everyone lamented, cried and wanted to see the Buddha's portrait for the last time. Feeling this, he told the Bhikkhu Upamana, who was standing in front of him, to stand back to one side.
Wanting sentient beings in the next life to enjoy the results of retribution and happiness, the Buddha also taught that people should go to worship and make offerings to the four places of his relics: the place of birth, the place of enlightenment, the place of conversion. Dharma and the place of Nirvana.
At this point, Mr. Ananda asked the Buddha about how to deal with the good-hearted Upasakas, keeping the precepts, wanting to listen to the sutras, so what? The Buddha taught: "We should preach the Dharma to them, but we should also keep the three karmas skillfully!"
Mr. A-Nan please do so.
[1] The Mahaparinirvana Sutra is the 7th book of the Great Tripitaka.

In a nutshell, is the full virtue, the afflictions are gone, the attainment of a place of tranquility, clarity, depth, and breadth is vast.
This sutra consists of three volumes: Upper, Middle, and Lower. Realizing that the text in the scriptures is continuous, when translating we do not follow the division into each volume as before. However, at the end of each old book, we have a place to write notes to save the old mark. And, in order to make it easier to identify and remember, we added the title and summary of each passage in the sutra. (translation-false)
[2] Japhus: Sit cross-legged, feet crossed on both sides.
[3] Four magic-success: Also known as the four like-mindedness: sex, mindfulness, progress and wisdom.
[4] Ma-Vuong: The lord of the Thien-ma species, that is, the God of the Thahoa-self-at-heavens, is the sixth heaven of the Desire world. [6] Property: That is, you have a contraband. Meaning: Sentient beings are samsara of birth and death, they are trained and attracted by unwholesome deeds. The World-Honored One also has a body in samsara, but because of the salvation he has, he has already reached the point of non-stealth. Now, this temporary body made up of four great elements, He wants to return it to its original state.
[7] This is a selection of key ideas in the main text, in order to make it easy for Buddhists to understand and remember when they finish reading each paragraph. Because, the summaries, if any Buddhist wants to recite, please recite the main-text, but save this part. (Translation-false).
[8] Necessary race-wise: That is, Buddha-wisdom, which means wisdom that knows all dharmas.
[9] Turning the wheel of Dharma (turning the wheel of Dharma): The Buddha's teaching is called "dharma-wheel" (dharma wheel); That teaching is called "turning" (turning). [14] Ascetic (Srmana): In the past, translated as "Tem-Mind, Tinh-Chi, Ba-Dao, etc...." Now translated as "Cor-labour, Need-ie", it means a diligent practitioner. The ability to practice, to stop afflictions in the mind, to make it quiet, to purify the spirit, to have meritorious efforts to advance towards the path of liberation (Buddhism).
[15] This is about the basis of the 8 meditations that generate victory-tri (high knowledge), victory-view (high knowledge) to release the mind of craving. General idea: 1/ Where we have not yet grown, we need to focus on contemplating right where our body and mind are, not yet needing to visualize the form outside our body and mind, or just a little bit. For example: we are contemplating our own body as impure, not yet thoroughly understood, stable, not yet (or just a little) should go to see other dead bodies, sometimes give birth to fear, regress. 2/ The Tao is gradual, contemplating where we are and contemplating where many people are still not harmful. 3/ The Way gradually reaches the wondrous place. XI. WHEN THE Buddha entered death
Then Ananda said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! After the Tathagata enters Nirvana, how should the method of making offerings be done?"
The Buddha said: "Now you shouldn't worry about that, you just think to yourself that after I pass away, you must uphold the righteous Dharma, bring what you heard before, and always tell it to you. others listen. What happen? Because, the gods themselves will make offerings to my body. Besides, the Brahmins, and kings, elders, and laypeople, themselves will make offerings to my body!"
Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Although, Nhan and Thien spontaneously start making offerings, but, I don't know which dharma he entered?"
The Buddha taught: "Mr Ananda! Offering my body, according to the dharma to the Holy King-turning-Roman."
Mr. Ananda again asked: "Lord, World-Honored One! Offering as easy as a Wheel-turning-Saint King, how is that dharma?"
The Buddha taught: "Mr Ananda! The method of making offerings to the Holy King, [1], is to use fresh, clean cotton and take small, fine cloths, and wrap them around my body. Just like that, wrap it, wrap it, wrap it up a thousand times, and then put it in the golden coffin. Again make a silver coffin outside, put a golden coffin inside; make the bronze coffin outside, put the silver coffin inside; Then make the iron coffin outside, put the bronze coffin inside. Then, take a lot of fragrant oil to wash, and bring the incense and damask flowers and spread them in the coffin, then cover the lid. made a hearse, very large, tall, wide, inlaid with jewels, with porches, roofs, and balconies, all adorned with fine things. When finished, put the coffin on the car.
Again, the place where the ashram was made in the city, it was to be cleaned on all four sides very clean, and took good linden logs and all kinds of fragrant spices, and arranged them in a great heap. On that pile of wood, spread beautiful thick silk fabrics, and cover them with a beautiful, large mosquito net. After that, the hearse was moved to the place of the fire. Here, burning incense, scattering flowers, making offerings to music, jamming that pile of incense sticks, circled it seven times, and then put the coffin on the pile of incense and sprinkled it with fragrant oil. As for the method of burning fire, the time of burning from the bottom up. When the pyrotechnic is finished, collect the Sa-li [3] and put it in a golden bowl. And right there, built a stupa, a towering dignified tower, hanging a silk screen; people in the human world should burn incense, scatter flowers, and make offerings every day."
Mr. A-Nan! You should know: The method of making offerings to the Holy King is like that! The cremation of my body is the same as the method of making offerings to the Holy King. But, building the tower of I, is different from the tower of the Holy King. My Tower, the towering and dignified tower, should hang nine canopies. And, if there is any living being who hangs embroidered banners, burns incense, spreads flowers, lights lamps and torches, worships and praises My tower, he will be blessed forever; In the next life, not long after, other people also built large stupas to make offerings to their bodies.
Mr. A-Nan! You should know: All sentient beings do not have stupas, only four types of people can build towers: First, those who have ten titles: Tathagata, Ung-Offering, Righteous-Transforming-Tri, and Minh-Hanging. -Success, Good-Speaking, World-Solving, Unsurpassed-Spirit, Master-Master, Celestial-Spirit, Buddha, World-Honored One[4], have pity on sentient beings and may for In the world, it is better to cultivate a field of happiness, when it is time to build a tower. Second, the Bich Chi-Buddha, thinking of all dharmas, self-enlightenment, can also bring benefits to the people of the world. When it is time to build a tower. Third, an Arahant, who listens to the Dharma and thinks about it in order to get rid of illegal karma, can also bring benefits to the people of the world. It is time to build a tower. The fourth is the Holy King, who planted many blessings in the past, has great virtue, rules over the four worlds [5], the seven treasures [6] are complete,
Mr. A-Nan! You should know: If there are living beings who bring all kinds of offerings to make offerings to those stupas, they will still be blessed, but their happiness is different, according to the order of magnitude."
COMPENDIUM
Mr. Ananda told the Buddha about the method of making offerings to him. When he entered Nirvana, he brushed it off and said: "You shouldn't worry about that, there are gods and others who will take care of it. -Concentration, you only think that in the future, you must protect the righteous dharma, bring what was heard before, and tell it to others!"
But, Mr. Ananda tried to explain, the Buddha said: "The offering to me is the same as the practice of making offerings to the holy king. That is, when I have entered Nirvana, wrap my body in fine cloth a thousand times, put it inside a golden coffin, and then cover it with a silver coffin, a bronze coffin, and an iron coffin outside. Wash fragrant oil, sprinkle flowers, sprinkle incense, then cover the coffin. At the same time, repair the precious chariot, beautiful ornaments, put the coffin on top, and move to the place of the fire. The place of the pyrotechnics must be cleaned and cleaned, and the cedars should be piled up in large piles. On that pile of wood lay a beautiful silk, covered with a mosquito net. And, burn incense, scatter flowers, make offerings to music, circumambulate 7 times, then place the coffin on top of that woodpile, sprinkle fragrant oil on all four sides, and light it up from below. After the fire is completed, collect the relics and build an offering tower."
Mr. A-Nan! He should know: "Sentient beings have no stupa, only Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, Arahants, and Wheel-turning-saint-kings, the four stages of bringing benefit to the world's people-- space, there is only tower. Whoever makes offerings to these stupas will be blessed, but the blessings are different!"
XII. Mr. A-NANA
Mr. Ananda heard the Buddha say these words, his heart arose, he mourned and cried. He hid behind the Buddha, not far from the Buddha, and whispered: "Now I am still a person in the study-ground. 8] has not yet known the profound meaning of all dharmas, but one day, the Divine-Sphinx will leave me and enter Nirvana, when will I reach the path of liberation!" Having said that, he raised his hand to a branch; then he beat his chest, ripped his head, brain-coat, sadly passed out.
At that time, the World-Honored One asked another bhikkhu: "Where is Ananda now?"
The other bhikkhu replied: "O World-Honored One! Mr. Ananda is now under a tree, behind the Tathagata, he is crying and crying, very depressed!"
The Buddha said to the other bhikkhu, "You go to Mr. Ananda and tell him, 'Now the God-Spirit wants to see you!
The other bhikkhu went to Mr. Ananda and explained clearly what the Tathagata meant to Mr. Ananda. Mr. Ananda heard, immediately returned to the place of Buddha. Arriving at the place, his head bowed down to the Buddha's feet, then stood leaning to one side.
The World-Honored One asked Mr. Ananda: “Recently I told you: "All physical characteristics are impermanent; love is gathered together, they all return to a place of separation”, yet, why are you still so sad and depressed!”
Again, Mr. A-Nan! “From the past until now, he has followed me, taking care of the work before, after, when going forward, when pointing, when walking, sometimes again, communicating with the guests, all in accordance with etiquette; Again, I saw that his body, speech, and mind were all pure and unblemished, and he received incalculable benefits!"
The World-Honored One turned around and said to the Bhikkhus: "Ananda himself should not have such sorrow and anxiety! What happen? – Because, soon, you will reach the place of liberation. The bhikkhus should know: all the Buddhas in the past life had attendants, like Mr. Ananda today; So are the Buddhas of the future. The Bhikkhu-Khikkhus should know: Now Mr. A-Nan here, wisdom-wise, intelligent, spiritual-air-facilitation; So far, I have said what the Dharma-store, Mr. Ananda remembers and doesn't forget.
Again, bhikkhus! Mr. Ananda knew the weather well, when he entered, when he pointed: If any guest wanted to come in and see me, Mr. Ananda would think about every hour in advance: The Blessed One or another hour received the guests. A bhikkhu, at one hour receives bhikkhunis, at another time receives an Upasakaya, at another hour with an Upasi, at another with a Brahmin, at another hour reception of the Shalitans, one hour the Elders, the Laity, one hour the non-Buddhists. All of these people, if they see me and listen to me preach the Dharma, they will gain many merits and benefits. What happen? Because, because Mr. Ananda informed me, they came to see me, so they got that kind of mature foundation."
Again, bhikkhus! There are four strange and rare phenomena: First, if a brahmin who goes to the place of the Holy King, sees the face of the king, who is virtuous and virtuous. the noble king, their hearts were born with joy; After hearing the king's voice, the sound of the word being transparent, they also became joyful, until when they saw the king, they were silent and did not speak, they also embraced joy, rejoicing and when they said goodbye to the king and returned to their old residence, they still remembered fondly, walking with sorrow and sadness, like a hungry man who could not be satisfied. Second, the small Shalitans. Third, the Bhikkhus [9]. Fourth, the people of the Thudala lineage [10] are all the same. These are the four miracles of the Holy King. You should know: Mr. Ananda also has four strange things: "First, if the Bhikkhus from afar, want to visit me, then see Mr. Ananda, They were all happy, listening to him preach, and seeing him quiet and happy, until they parted, their deep affection for the lord, never to be forgotten. Second, the Bhikkhu-Khikkhunis. Third, the Upasakas. Fourth, the Upasakas are all the same. You should know: Ananda had these four miracles!"
At that time, the World-Honored One said to Ananda: "Now, you should not give birth to your own sufferings and sorrows, but say, "The Deity-Master is about to enter Nirvana. liberate again!” What happen? - "All the dharma-treasures I say, after I pass away, think, obey, preserve, diligently do diligently, I will soon be liberated myself!"
COMPENDIUM
After hearing the Buddha talk about the method of making offerings when he passed away, Mr. Ananda was sad, crying and lamenting that he was still studying and learning, now he lost his teacher. exit.
The Buddha called him in and said: "I have told you: things are impermanent, love must be separated, so why are you so sad about yourself?"
"I know your body, speech, and mind are pure, take care of your attendants, and interact with guests appropriately, you get a lot of benefits!"
He turned around and said to the Bhikkhus: "Ananda himself should be happy, soon he will be liberated. Mr. A-Nan is a man of wisdom, intelligence, flexibility... What I say he remembers and doesn't forget. As for the new guest, he knows how to react to the right occasion. He also had the virtue that the Bhikkhus, the Bhikkhus, the Upasakas, and the Upasakas came from afar to visit me, they saw him, heard him preach, or kept silent. -quietly, they were all happy; when they say goodbye they will still love him forever!"
So, Mr. A-Nan! Don't suffer, be sad, think that there is no Master, you can't be liberated. You should just think: "All the dharma-treasures I say, after I pass away, think, obey, keep, diligently work hard, I will soon be liberated myself!"
XIII. THE ONE OF THE SUCCESSFUL THINA
Mr. Ananda was comforted by the sound of the Tathagata's syllables, his anxiety reduced, he immediately said to the Buddha: "Lord, World-Honored One! My mind is now a bit enlightened, I want to make a request, respectfully ask the World-Honored One for mercy and joy!"
The Buddha replied, "Whatever you want to ask for, just say it!"
Mr. Ananda said: "Lord, World-Honored One! Compared to this city of Cuthina, compared with other great countries, it is very small, bordered, and people are not crowded. I respectfully ask the World-Honored One to go to other great countries such as: -city, Bhikkhu-city, Sa-vat-nation-city, Ben-a-complaint-city, Adu-sa-city, Champa-city, Cau-dim-di-city, Germany -soa-thi-la-thanh…; Those cities are just in the middle, densely populated, rich and happy, with many people of faith, wisdom and intelligence. I respectfully ask the Blessed One to come and enter those cities. Nirvana, of great benefit to the sentient beings, dwells in those places."
The World-Honored One immediately replied to Ananda: "Now you should not make a request. I am this small, border-bound city in Cuthina. You should listen carefully, now I will for you, tell you clearly!"
Mr. A-Nan! A long time ago, in this city of Cuthina there lived a holy king named Dai Thien Kien. The king has all seven treasures. The king had a thousand children, had the power to put an end to the enemies, but they all taught the people the true Dharma.
This city was then called the city of Cuu-thi-ba-de. In this city, the East and West gates are separated by twelve do-weeks [11], and the South and North gates are separated by eight do-weeks. The four sides of this citadel are surrounded by seven pairs. The first worm inside, built of pure gold. Second, built purely of silver. The third insect, built purely of lapis lazuli. It has flowers of all kinds, such as the Cuu-mau, the U-balla-flower, the Fen-da-li flower, and the lotuses of green, yellow, red, white, and colorful colors. On the bank of that moat, there are seven rows of treasure trees, each row has different kinds of treasures; the breeze, blowing slowly on the other branches, the branches touched each other, the sound resounded like heavenly music.
The people in the city are all full of peace, rich, and happy to the point of great prosperity; The five senses are as complete as the Dao-Li heaven.
All roads in the city are hung with pearls; People-people go or rest, regardless of day and night. There are usually ten languages in this city: first, elephant, second horse, third vehicle, fourth, drum, fifth, loudspeaker, six, harp, iron..., seven namely, singing, eight, bells, opening of the congress, nine, praising people for keeping the precepts, ten, and talking about the Dharma.
King Dai-Thien-Kien, has all the virtues, is the first righteous, everyone sees, everyone respects; live a long, happy life, with no defects in the body. The kingly character is benevolent, thinking and loving all, just as a good father loves his son, all the people, respecting the king as well as his father.
Mr. A-Nan! King Dai-Thien-Kien, especially at one time, the king wanted to go out to the park and play around. The king ordered four types of troops [14], each type was eighty four thousand. Again, the concubines and harem-girls also set up eighty four thousand carriages, wanting to follow the audience. At that time, the king again appointed the Brahmins, elders, lay people..., following the king as a monk.
After adjusting the chariot, the commander of the army went in and told the king: "Four types of troops have been prepared, please let the king know when to go out!" The king immediately got on the white-statue chariot, with brahmins, elders, lay people, ministers, and relatives, and surrounded by four types of troops, front and back.
When leaving, in order to reach the other forest, the elephant went as fast as the wind, the officials, brahmins, elders, laypeople, and the king: "The great king will stay forever in the inner palace. - people outside, did not have the opportunity to see the Great King, now the Great King has come to the park, the people are crowded and crowded on the roadside, all are looking forward to seeing the Great King; Because of that matter, please Great-Venerable for the person to look after the car, don't go fast!" When the king heard that, he immediately gave the car to the driver, so he went slowly. By walking slowly, the people on the side of the road, freely admire, like a son seeing his father.
At that time, King Dai Thien Kien saw that the roads, alleys, everywhere were smooth, and there were rows of seven treasure trees, covered and shining, but, seeing no pond of water, the king immediately changed his mind. for a mandarin, bordered on roads, dug seven treasure ponds and separated each pond by a hundred bows. Wrong to plant more precious flowers. In each of the ponds, the servants must be cut off, and someone bathes them, brings incense and flowers to them, and gives them food and drink, as they please; providing like that, day and night unceasingly. Again for the other official, from now on, the people from the four directions far away, anyone will ask for whatever they use, provide for them.
When he arrived at the forest, the king, with brahmins, elders, laypeople, and great ministers, played around until evening, and saw the light of the treasure shining brightly. , as daytime no different. When he could not see the shadow of the sun, he knew that it was night. Then the king, with the brahmins, elders, laypeople, and subjects, having finished playing, returned to the palace. -Fort.
Another day, the brahmins, the elders, the lay people, and the ministers, brought all kinds of precious jewels, and presented them to the king, and the king said, "A new day is here. officials in the forest, I have a identity for that official: from now on, anyone will ask, as they please, provide for them; This is my alms-giving, now gentlemen, why are you bringing me treasures?"
At that time, the king's mind thought to himself: "The reason why these people have brought me treasures is a pretext for making the country rich and rich. Something like that, must it be because of the poor people that they bring?"
The king immediately ordered the official to take care of the storehouse, bring the treasures of the palace and personal belongings, leave them at the crossroads, ring the bell, beat the drum, and announce to the four directions far away that King Dai Thien Kien, is now opened the treasury to give alms, and if anyone needed it, he could take it as he pleased, and the king used to make such generous alms, day and night.
The brahmins, the elders, the lay people, and the great ministers of the country, then said to the king: "O Great King! The palace of the Great King is often here, very narrow; When we again question the Great King, we cannot even tolerate the followers who serve us, we respectfully ask the Great King to open it up more widely!"
The king heard this, silently accepted the word and thought to himself: "Now I should expand this abode!" At that time, King De Thich knew well the thoughts of the king, and immediately called a heavenly son named Bhikkhu-sacred man, who was very talented and skillful, nothing is impossible. said: "Now in Jambudvipa, there is a Holy King named Great Compassionate View, who wants to open the palace, he can come down and act as a worker to take care of it. for him, make that place of sculptures and ornaments dignified and beautiful like my place?" The Son of Heaven who obeyed the decree of King De Thich appeared to the world like a man who stretched out his arms for a moment, arrived at Jambudvipa and stood right in front of the king.
At that time, the king saw the figure of that dignified and dignified Heavenly Son, knowing that he must not be a human, the king immediately asked: "What kind of god are you, suddenly here?" - The other Heavenly Son replied: Great King should know, I am King De Thich's great minister, named Bhikkhu-kuenma, a very skillful worker. Tam Dai Vuong wanted to expand the palace, so King De Thich sent me down here to work as a worker to take care of the king. The king heard this and was very happy in his heart.
The other Heavenly Son began to build and expand the palace. The four gates, each wide open, were spaced twenty-four yojanas apart. Build the king's palace again. This palace is eight yojanas high, deep, long and wide, each side eight yojanas, and all of the seven treasures, dignified and beautiful, like the palace of King De Thich. In that palace, there are eighty-four thousand apartments, separated from each other. And they all have beds, mosquito nets, and crouching tools made of seven treasures.
After that, he built a lecture hall for the king. This palace is high, deep, long, and wide as well as eight yojanas and as dignified as the seven treasures as before. On the four sides of this shrine, there are seven treasure trees with precious flowers, planted in rows, shaded and bright.
Dig treasure ponds again. The water in that treasure pond is pure and full of eight merits.
As for the center of that hall, there is a very tall and wide Lion throne, dignified with seven treasures, covered with a treasure mosquito net, and let down the fringes of seven treasures. And, because guests from far and wide heard the Dharma, they built the throne of the Four Jewels: Gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and crystal; and the number of people sitting in that court was eighty-four thousand.
When the Bhikkhu-keen-ma was finished building the palace for King Dai-Thien-Kien, he bid farewell to the king, suddenly no longer appeared, and returned to heaven.
When Dai-Thien-Kien-king saw that the palace had been built and repaired, he immediately issued a decree to his subordinate, beat the drum, and gave orders to all the people in the world to know: Here are seven: one day, the king will speak for all people; If anyone wants to listen to the Dharma, they will all gather at the Lecture Hall.
At that time, brahmins, elders, laypeople, ministers, and people, hearing this command, on the right day, all assembled at the lecture hall.
At that time, the king went up to the lecture hall, sat on the lion throne, and all the people who came to listen, also sat on the throne of the Four Jewels. Dai-Shan-Kien-King, first because people talk about the ten-virtuous Dharma, then declares many other Dharma-doors. And so, until twelve thousand years, sentient beings in that country, who have heard the Dharma of King Dai Thien-Kien, will be reborn in heaven at the end of life, not falling into hell, falling down. -demons, animals.
Mr. A-Nan! King Dai Thien-Kien often works for the benefit of sentient beings like that!
Mr. A-Nan! When King Dai Thien Kien was in the retreat, his mind thought to himself: "What kind of deeds did I do in the past, what good roots did I cultivate, and when I was born, I was born with nobility and dignity. great, physical-power, life-life, people can not compare? It is because in the past that we practiced generosity, patience, and compassion, that we now have that reward! So now we should practice even more.” The king immediately thought, "It won't be long before I attain the first jhāna, until the fourth jhāna, and again practice the four immeasurables (loving-kindness, compassion, joy, discharge) more!
Mr. A-Nan! Not only himself, King Dai Thien Kien taught his wife and other nuns about the Four Meditations [15].
At that time, there were eighty-four thousand white elephants in Tuyet-san, who came to line up in front of the king's palace every day. The king thought: "These white elephants often come to me, have to walk on the roads, they must be trampling on living beings!" Thinking like that, the king immediately ordered the official about the military, from now on, no need for these elephants, coming to me every day; about once every thousand years, but, only forty-two thousand is enough, not necessarily all eighty-four thousand.
At that time, the king's jade maiden named Thien Hien, with her concubines, eighty-four thousand people, sitting in meditation and thinking in the retreat for forty thousand years, said to each other, : "We've been sitting here meditating and thinking for forty thousand years, haven't seen the Great King, now we should go to the place of worship!" Having said that, everyone followed together to the king's place.
At that time, the palace-person appeared at the king's place and said: "Now Thien Hien and eighty-four thousand women are visiting the Great King again!"
Hearing this, the king went up to the lecture hall and sat on the lion throne.
Moments later, Thien-Hien and everyone else came, the king called in front of the palace. Thien-Hien and everyone followed each other up to the king's seat, bowed his head to the king's feet. After the ceremony was over, he sat down one by one and said, "We and our sisters have been sitting in meditation and thinking together in a retreat for forty thousand years, haven't been able to see the Great King for a long time, and now we are here to visit the Great King's health and have a few things to say, respectfully ask the Great King for permission!"
The king replied” “Precious! You can say whatever you want."
Thien-Hien immediately said to the king, "The four directions of the world are here: Southern Jambudvipa (Jumbudvipa), Western Codani (Apara-godâniya), Northern Uttara-kura). , Dong Phat Bodhi (Pùrva-videha) the people are very numerous, rich, happy, peaceful, all practice the ten virtues, which is due to the virtue of the Great King. . In Jambudvipa, like this Citadel, there are still eighty-four thousand cities. Those cities, the King, the subjects, and the Brahmins all came here, wanting to see the Great King. But, when the Great King sat in meditation, after many years, people were still at court, and they could not see it, for example, a filial son cannot see a good father. Moreover, in the four worlds, for a long time, I did not see the Great King travel at all, so I respectfully ask the Great King to use his time wisely, comfort, and guide the people. We weak-willed women are of no use to water, so we like to meditate for a long time, But as the Great King is in a noble place, ruling inside and out, all the people, everyone respects, how can you do as we women do! White elephants, chariots, horses, each with eighty-four thousand, Great-king should go to du-quan! In the past, Great King, he used to speak for all sentient beings, preaching all the benefits, and imparting the ten virtues, but recently, when he was sitting in meditation, it was abandoned!"
When Thien-Hien brought these things to the king, King Dai-Thien-Kien heard this and replied: "In the past, she used to dissuade me with good deeds, but now, when I hear her say it, I see that it is contrary to my previous intention. !”
At that time, Thien-Hien listened to the king's teaching, and his heart was filled with anxiety and depression, thinking: "Recently, the reason why I disobeyed the king was my opinion, thinking that I was righteous. combination of the middle way), unexpectedly gives birth to sin!”
She immediately got up from her seat, bowed down at the king's feet, and said, "Now, I am a fool who does not know justice, and takes this matter up to the next step, and respectfully begs the King, for permission. be repented!” [16]
At that time, King Dai-Thien-Kien replied to Thien-Hien that: "All actions are impermanent, and when love is gathered together, it must also be separated; Although these four worlds are numerous and prosperous, soon I will also leave. Once upon a time, eighty-four thousand years I was the elder brother, eighty-four thousand years I was a medium, eighty-four thousand years I was crowned the Crown Prince and received contemplation [17], eighty-four thousand The year he ascended the throne, he received the crowning spell, later became a Holy King, ruling in the four directions of the world, full of seven treasures, eighty-four thousand years in charge of the affairs of the people, eighty-four thousand thousand years for the sake of the people preaching all dharmas, eighty-four thousand years of sitting in meditation and thinking. Since then, it has been fifty-eight thousand four thousand years. Although such a life-span is long, but, the assembly will all return to its place. Now that I am old, the hour of death is coming; kings of old, nobility and pleasure, Just like me, it's not different, but it's also changed to the place of impermanence. The Citadel of Cuuthiba-de along with eighty-four thousand other great cities, there is a meeting, and there is a time of destruction. Therefore, it is not advisable for those cities to give rise to love and passion, to increase the mind of lethargy. Now, the reason we have this victory is because in the past we have accumulated all good karma. Now I need to plant a lot of good roots and create causes in the future, so I have been meditating for so many years!”
At that time, Thien-Hien and everyone heard and heard the king say that, his heart was very happy, bowed down to the king's feet and retired to his residence.
Thus, not long after the king became seriously ill, knowing his own life-ending, immediately the Crown Prince became king; gathered the great ministers, together with the brahmins, elders, and lay people, taking water from four pools and sprinkling it on the crown prince's head. The matter was over, the king died and was reborn in the Brahma world.
Mr. A-Nan! King Dai-Thien-Kien, who ruled over the four worlds, but the king's residence was only in a large city in the land of Jambudvipa; Although there are eighty-four thousand cities, the king's residence is only this one city of Cuthi-ba-di. There are eighty-four thousand precious white elephants in Tuyet-son, but the king rides only one. Although there were eighty-four thousand good horses, the king rode only one. Although there were eighty-four thousand seven-wheeled carriages, the king used to ride, but only one. Although there were eighty-four thousand concubines, whom the king loved, there was only one. Although there are eighty-four thousand jewels for the palace, the king's residence is only one house. The need to use the body, just enough! Yet the king has to take care of the affairs of the four directions, and is tied to the affairs of sentient beings, exhausted mentally and physically, for nothing like that!"
Mr. A-Nan! King Dai-Thien-Kien, then, is it someone else, that is my body!
Once upon a time I had that honor, and my city is right here. I am in this city as a Wheel-turning-King, doing things that can benefit immeasurable sentient beings, which cannot be counted. Now the gods have come to fill the void, all the same people from the past, when I was king, who brought good dharmas to teach them. And, today all the dharmas in this city, seeing me enter Nirvana, will bring them the fruit of Parinirvana.
Mr. A-Nan! With such a thing, how can you say that this city of Cuthina is a narrow border? Now I have decided to enter Nirvana in this city!"
While the Tathagata spoke about this, the gods, the multitudes of millions of people, in all dharmas, separated from the mundane, and attained to the pure Dharma eye, immediately spoke to the Buddha in unison, saying: "O the World-Honored One! In the past immeasurable, immeasurable, boundless eons, the World-Honored One brought all good dharmas to benefit us, and now in this place he establishes with the joy of Parinirvana. for us!” After that, they immediately scattered precious flowers, played heavenly music together, sang praises, and made offerings to the Tathagata.
At that time, Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "Strange, O World-Honored One! In this city of Cuthina, in the past, there were such miracles, and now I no longer have a mind of narrow-mindedness!"
COMPENDIUM
After being comforted by the Buddha, Ananda's mind gradually eased his sadness, he immediately said to the Buddha, asking the Buddha to go back to other great cities, enter Nirvana, this small place Cuthina too narrow and borderline!
The Buddha told Ananda: "You shouldn't invite me like that! You do not know the beauty of this city in the past, I will make it clear to you:
This city was formerly known as the city of Cuu-thi-ba-de, which was ruled by a holy king named Dai Thien-Kien.
This city is tall and wide, palaces, houses, gates, roads, ponds, trees... are all built and dignified with seven treasures. The people are kind, live a long, happy and happy life..., because the king completely only brings the Dharma to rule.
However, according to the needs of the common people, the city was still cramped in those days. Therefore, once the king wanted to widen the palace, and naturally, he was helped by Bhikkhu-Kien-Kien-Ma Thien Tu.
The construction work was finished, the king gave an order, opened the door of the lecture hall, preached many benefits, and many people listened to the enlightened Dharma.
After that, the king thought to himself: "I got like this, because I did good karma before, now I need to practice even more!" The king practiced Zen and taught his wives and female bodies to practice together.
Over a long period of time, the goddess Thien-Hien and her wives advised the king to go everywhere to teach the people. The king refused and said: "I have been since I was a brother, when I was a young man, when I became a crown prince, sometimes as a king, then as a holy king, when I ruled the four worlds, sometimes preaching the Dharma to the people, while sitting in meditation, all of them have been 584,000 years so far. However, “things are impermanent, love must separate.” Therefore, I do not love, indulge; need to plant a lot of good roots, create causes in the future only!"
Thus, not long after the king fell ill, passed the throne to the Crown Prince, then died, and was born in the Brahma world.
Mr. A-Nan! King Dai-Thien Kien had a palace, an elephant, a horse, a vehicle, a wife... 84,000 on each side, but the king only used "one". The need for the body, just enough, that the king had to take care of the work for the four directions, forced himself into the work of living beings, mentally exhausted.
Mr. A-Nan! The old Dai-Shan-Kien King is now my body. In the past, when I was here, doing such work of unspeakable achievements for sentient beings, would I think that this place is narrow and borderline? I decided to enter Nirvana in this city!
XIV. THE BUDDHA AND THE GRACE-WAYS
At that time, the World-Honored One said to Ananda, "Now you should go into the city of Cuthina and tell the members of the Athletics faction: 'Today at dawn I enter Nirvana, I want to enter Nirvana. everyone is looking forward to seeing me; If you have any doubts, let me ask for advice, don't let me regret it when I enter Nirvana!"
Mr. Ananda heard the Buddha's words, put on a ceremonial robe, bowed down to the Buddha's feet, and then prepared to leave.
He kept his majesty and, together with another Bhikkhu, entered the city together.
At that time, the young, old, boys and girls of the Athlete Order, in the city of Cuthina, gathered together to express and discuss about the coming of the Tathagata to Nirvana. and everyone wants to go to Buddha's place.
While they were having a meeting, when they saw Ananda, they immediately asked: "We heard the Blessed One near the sala tree about to enter Nirvana, and we were discussing where we wanted to go. Buddha, how is it now, please tell me!"
Mr. Ananda immediately brought all the Buddha's teachings and told those in the Body-athletes faction. Those who sent the Athletes heard this, mourned, mourned, and fell to the ground sadly, choking and whispering to each other, saying: "Alas, what a pain! The eyes of the world are gone, from now on we know where to take refuge, like a child who has lost a good father; From now on, the human and heavenly realms will decrease, the three evil paths [18] will increase and prosper!"
Then they said to Mr. Ananda: "Our relatives now want to go to the Buddha together!"
At that time, Mr. Ananda, saying goodbye to everyone, returned to the Buddha and said to the Buddha: "I bring the World-Honored One's word into the city and announce it to the Athletes; all of them were amazed, sad, weeping, and tearful, and all said they would come and worship the Blessed One!"
After that, the young, the old, the boys and the girls who sent the Athletes, all following one another, were in tears, crying, choking, and went on their way.
Mr. Ananda saw that the number of people of the Athletes' sect was very large, and his mind thought to himself: "If this crowd of people, for every person, every person to worship Buddha, the time would not be known at all; Now we should give each house, each house a moment to worship Buddha!"
The men who sent the Athletes had arrived at the Buddha, and Ananda immediately announced: "You have come here in large numbers, if each and every person attends to the Buddha, the time will not be known. Now, each house, each house temporarily pays homage to the Buddha!"
Those who sent the Strength, obeyed Ananda's will, immediately went to worship the Buddha, then stood back to one side, and said to the Buddha: "I respectfully ask the World-Honored One to stay in the world for one kalpa or one kalpa. life, do not enter Nirvana, for the benefit of all gods and people. Now, sentient beings who have no eyes of wisdom, respectfully ask the World-Honored One, for the sake of initiating the Way!"
The Tathagata said to the Athletes: "Now you should not invite me like that! What happen? - All generals, are impermanent, love-union, must return to separation; Thus, even if I have lived in this world for one lifetime, the time of assembly will also have to perish from time to time. So, my teachings, you need to memorize, preserve, recite, and don't forget, so it's no different than I'm still alive!"
Those who sent the Athletes heard the Buddha's words, knew that there was no fruit. At their request, their hearts were wilted, sad, mourning and crying, and then stood in silence. .
COMPENDIUM
The Buddha sent Mr. Ananda to the city of Cuthina to find the strongman to come and meet the Buddha. Mr. A-Nan obeyed.
Going to the place where Ananda saw a large gathering of them. He brought the Buddha's teachings to them. They said: "We were told that the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana. We gathered together to go to the Buddha's place and pay respects to the Buddha."
Arriving at the Buddha's place, he sent Strength-athletes to worship the Buddha and invite the Buddha to stay in the world to benefit sentient beings.
The Buddha taught: "Things are impermanent, love must be separated, even if I stay again, it will be the same. Well, my sermons, you need to memorize, recite and don't forget, that's no different than I'm still alive!"
The Athlete Squad knew it was impossible to ask, so sadly stood still.
XV. MR. TU BATDA-LA-Mr
At that time, in the city of Cuthina, there lived a heretic, one hundred and twenty years old, whose name was Subhadra. This man is intelligent, multi-wise, recites all four Vedas [19], all books and treatises are fully understood, so he is respected by all.
He heard that the Tathagata was at a distance of two trees in the Sala forest about to enter Nirvana. His mind thought to himself: "The books and treatises of my religion say that the Buddha's birth is very difficult to meet, just like the Udumbara flower appears only once in a while. Now that he is in the Sala forest, we still have doubts, we try to consult, if the recluse Gotama [20] can solve my doubts, in real time he will be the first- ethnology.
Having thought that, he went to the Buddha's place.
In the forest, he met Mr. Ananda, he said to Mr. Ananda, "In books and treatises I say that the Buddha was born very difficult to meet, thousands, thousands, thousands of eons, from time to time, from time to time. appear, like the Udumbara flower that cannot be seen often. The Buddha made Buddhism in the world, but I still can't see it. Now I hear that he is in this Sala forest, about to enter Nirvana; I have doubts and want to go to him and ask him, so I hope you tell the Blessed One that I want to see him for a while!"
Mr. Ananda heard the words of Mr. Tubatta, his mind thought to himself: "Now that the Blessed One is not at peace with the four greats [21], he continues to meet him for a long time, he is increasing by himself. evil deeds, that is, if we let a non-believer again come into the presence of the Blessed One, of course there must be speech, and there will be more damage!" Ananda immediately replied: "Now that the World-Honored One is not at peace, resting in the forest, his body is in excruciating pain, so now please don't go to see the Tathagata again! Please do not come when the Blessed One is about to enter Nirvana, there is an obstacle!"
Mr. Tubatdala requested to Mr. Ananda three times like that, and Mr. Ananda replied three times in the same way. At that time, the World-Honored One, using the pure [22] Heavenly Ear, heard his voice, Tu-batdala, requesting Mr. Ananda; He observed his temperament again, knowing that the time had come to save him, he used Brahma to tell Ananda: "Don't hinder the dark disciple--" My queen, you should allow Tubatdala to go before me, I want to see him. He was a man of directness, wisdom, and enlightenment. The reason he came to I was to have his doubts resolved, not on purpose to argue more or less!”
At that time, Mr. Ananda obeyed the Buddha's teaching and told Mr. Tubatdala: "Now, the World-Honored One has taught me, allowing you to come in and see him."
Mr. Tubatdala heard that the Buddha allowed him to enter before Him, was overjoyed, unable to restrain himself. His mind thought: The recluse Gotama decides to be the one who can witness the Oneness. ethnology!”
Having thought that, he immediately entered the Buddha's residence. After visiting each other, he sat to one side and said to the Buddha: "Dear Gotama Samana! Now I have something to ask, please accept it!"
The Buddha replied: "Precious, precious! Mr. Tubatdala, feel free to ask anything you want, just ask!"
Mr. Tubatdala immediately asked the Buddha: "Now in this world, there are ascetics, brahmins, and six non-Buddhist masters such as: Phulan-na-ka-lettuce. Purana Kàsyapa), Madagakure-gosaliputra (Maskàri Gosaliputra), Ajtakesakambala (Ajtakesakambala), Kalakudaka -The friars (Kakuda Kàtyayand), Nirgranta Jnatiputra (Nirgranta Jnatiputra)..., all claim to be omniscient, for other scholars it is wrong view; they consider the actions of their religion to be the path of liberation, the actions of other religions are just life-and-death. Right, left, confused, how to know which is false, real; Which teacher is called a monk, who decides to be the cause of liberation?"
The Tathagata replied: "How precious, how precious, Mr. Tubattala! Now you ask I have that meaning, you listen carefully, listen carefully, I will talk about it for you."
Mr. Tuba-dala! Among the dharmas, if any dharma does not have the Noble Eightfold Path, it will be known that there is no name of a recluse, even the names of two and three, and four of them also do not exist [23]. There was no Samana, nor liberation; Liberation was not there, the time is not the Necessary-Seed!
Mr. Tuba-dala! If among the dharmas there is the Noble Eightfold Path, it should be known that there are names of the four ascetics in that place. There is the name of the Sa-Mon at the time of liberation; there is liberation, is to be of all-knowledge!
Mr. Tuba-dala! Comparing the dharmas, only in the dharma I have the Noble Eightfold Path, named after the four recluses, which is the path to liberation, the All-knowledge. The other non-Buddhist religions, such as Phulanna-casha-lettuce and so on, in their teaching places, do not have the Noble Eightfold Path, do not have the name of a recluse, are not liberated and One -set-strain. If they say yes, then they know it's a lie!
Mr. Tuba-dala! All sentient beings hear the Dharma I say, believe it, and think about it. Once I know that person, I will not listen to it or not, but will definitely be liberated!
Mr. Tuba-dala! When I was still in the palace, I had not left home, the whole world was mesmerized by the six masters, and I did not see the real Samana!
Mr. Tuba-dala! At the age of twenty-nine I left home to study the Way, at the age of thirty-six [24] I sat under the Bodhi tree, thinking about the cause and purpose of the Noble Eightfold Path, the unsurpassed city. righteous-righteous enlightenment, the attainment of the Necessary-race-wise. Having attained enlightenment, I went to the Loc Gia garden, where the ancestors lived in the past, in the country of Benares, I went to Kieu-Tran-Like five people [25], Dharma Wheel of the Four Truths, they heard traces of the Way, then the name Sa-mon was born, bringing benefits to sentient beings!
Mr. Tuba-dala! You should know that the Dharma I am liberated, the Tathagata is indeed the All-Knowledge!
Mr. Tuba-dala heard the Tathagata talk about the Noble Eightfold Path, then his heart was filled with joy, his body was covered with hairs, longing to hear about the meaning of the Noble Eightfold Path, he said to the Buddha. saying: "Honored One, for my sake, distinguish and widen the meaning of the Noble Eightfold Path!"
The World-Honored One because he distinguished and expounded the meaning of the Noble Eightfold Path.
Mr. Tubatdala heard the Buddha say the meaning of the Noble Eightfold Path, his mind opened up, and suddenly he became fully enlightened and in all dharmas he was able to separate from the mundane and gain the Dharma eye. - Pure, he immediately said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Now I want to leave home in the Buddha-Dharma, hope the World-Honored One will approve!
The World-Honored One immediately called: "Good-Lai-Bhikkhu!" His beard and hair were clean by himself, and he put on his robes, that is, the city of Samana. The World-Honored One spoke extensively about the Four Noble Truths to him, and he immediately became an Arahant.
The Buddha said to Ananda, "Now you should know that I am in the ashram, in the unsurpassed, righteous and enlightened city, and for the first time preached the Dharma to Kieu-Tran-Like five people, Today in Sala forest, about to enter Nirvana, this last time of preaching, I give him Tu-batdala. From now on, gods and people will no longer be able to hear my teaching and attain salvation, but if people have good roots, they will also be liberated. The following are taught and taught by my disciples. each other!"
Mr. A-Nan! Mr. Tubatdala, although he is a non-Buddhist, but his good roots, in time and maturity, are known only by the Tathagata. After I enter Nirvana, if there are non-believers who want to leave home in my Dharma, you should not immediately agree to them; first ask them to recite the scriptures for four months, considering whether their intentions are true or false. If you see that their conduct is direct, gentle, and with respect to the Dharma, I really have a deep wish, and only then will I agree to let them leave home. Mr. A-Nan! That's why, because you have little wisdom, you can't distinguish the temperaments of living beings right away, so you must first consider them!
At that time, Mr. Sub-Buddha said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! Before, I wanted to leave home, if the World-Honored One had forced me to stay in the Buddhadharma for forty years, read and recite scriptures, and then let me leave home, I would have been able to accept it. there are four months!
The World-Honored One said to Tubatdala: "That's right, that's right, Mr. I consider what you mean, with regard to the Dharma I'm kind-hearted and thirsty for, now that you say it, it's not vanity."
Thereupon, Mr. Sub-Buddhist approached the Buddha and said to the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! I can't bear to see the God-Honored One enter Nirvana, today I want to enter Nirvana before the World-Honored One!"
The Buddha said: "Precious! OK!"
At that time, Mr. Subhuti, right in front of the Buddha, entered the fire realm samadhi, and entered Nirvana.
COMPENDIUM
In the city of Cuthina, there was a man who practiced non-Buddhist religions, understood the scriptures, and lived at the age of 120 years, named Tubatdala.
Looking at the scriptures, he knew that the Buddha was born difficult to meet, now that the Buddha was about to enter Nirvana and still had some doubts, he immediately went to the Buddha's place.
Arriving at Sala, he asked Mr. Ananda to let him in to see the Buddha. Mr. Ananda refused, because the Buddha was in pain and he was about to pass away, so he shouldn't be an obstacle.
The Buddha used Thien-hear to hear and know, and to clarify his base, he told Ananda to let him in.
Arriving at the place, after completing the visiting ceremony, Mr. Tubatdala asked the Buddha: "The cultivators of all religions today consider themselves to be omniscient. other scholars are wrong views; for one's religion is liberation, the other is birth and death. Right, left, bad, really hard to distinguish, please help solve it!"
The Buddha replied: "Any religion that has the Noble Eightfold Path, has the name of a recluse, and is liberated, is omniscient! Otherwise, you can't!"
“When I was still in the Royal Palace, I did not have the real name Sa-mon. Twenty-nine years old I left home, six years old I thought about the Eightfold Path, attained the All-Treatment, and after that, I went to Loc to rescue Kieu-Tran-Nhat for 5 people. , then the name Samon was born. You should know: the Dharma I am liberated, the Tathagata is the All-Knowledge!"
Mr. Tuba-dala heard the Buddha say that dharma, suddenly great-enlightenment. He asked the Buddha to leave home and become a recluse.
The hybrid Buddha told Mr. Ananda here that there is a degree for non-believers, need to consider in 4 months already!
At this point, Mr. Tubatta could not bear to see the Buddha enter Nirvana, he asked the Buddha, he entered the Fire-light samadhi, entered Nirvana first.
XVI. ANSWER-WELCOME
At that time, the Tathagata said to Ananda: "Don't see me enter Nirvana, think that my righteous dharma here has completely disappeared. - What happen? - In the past, for the sake of the Bhikkhus, I made up the precepts for the Bala-dhammas [26] and uttered many other wonderful dharmas, and those precepts are your great teachers and like me. In life, it's no different!"
Mr. A-Nan! After I entered Nirvana, the Bhikkhus must be in order, big, small, respectful to each other; they are not called by their names, but by their first names; consider one another, let not in them any transgression of the precepts; should not divulge the small faults of people. Sa-Non (Chandaka) Bhikkhu-Khach [27] need to be punished severely!
Mr. Ananda asked the Buddha: "O World-Honored One! What is a heavy penalty?
The Buddha said: "Mr Ananda! The heavy penalty is that all bhikkhus should not talk to him!" Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "We will obey the teachings of the World-Honored One!"
At that time, the World-Honored One said to the bhikkhus: "Now, if you have any doubts, you can consult them at your discretion. Don't let, after I pass away, regret that the Tathagata is about to enter. Nirvana in Sala forest, at that time I did not dare to ask the Tathagata to solve it, so much so that today my mind has a stagnation! Although I am physically ill now, it is still possible for you to explain doubts. If you want to observe the righteous dharma, benefit Humans and Heavens, after I enter Nirvana, now you should ask quickly, I will solve your doubts!"
The World-Honored One said this three times, the Bhikkhus remained silent, no one asked him to decide anything. At that time, Mr. Ananda said to the Buddha: "Strange, O World-Honored One! The World-Honored One taught this three times, and none of these people doubted it!"
The Buddha said, "That's right, that's right! Mr. A-Nan! Now among these five hundred bhikkhus who have not yet attained enlightenment, after I enter Nirvana, in their future life, their illicit karma will be exhausted, and you yourself will be among them. there!”
Then the World-Honored One said to the bhikkhus: "If suddenly my body, speech, or mind have offended you, you should tell me!"
The bhikkhus, hearing the Buddha's words, were sad and tearful, and said to the Buddha: "Does the Tathagata still have minor faults in body, speech, and mind?"
The Tathagata then spoke in verse:
The practice is impermanent,
Is the law of birth-and-death;
Annihilation of birth-and
-death is done, for fun. [28]
When the Tathagata said that verse, he told the Bhikkhus: “You should know: all physical characteristics are impermanent; Although my body is now a vajra body, it is not immune to impermanence. In the path of birth-and-death, which is very scary, you should work diligently and diligently, need to quickly get out of this fire pit of birth and death, that is my final teaching!"
"My time to enter Nirvana has come!"
The bhikkhus and other gods and men heard the Buddha's teaching, felt compassion, cried and cried, and fell to the ground sadly.
The Tathagata immediately said to everyone: "You should not give birth to such sadness, that is the nature of all things!"
COMPENDIUM
The Buddha said to Ananda: "Don't see me enter Nirvana, even if my righteous Dharma is lost. Once upon a time, I made up the precepts and spoke the wonderful Dharma, and in those days those precepts were your teachers. After I entered-extinction, the Bhikkhu-Khikkhus must be in order, large, small, respectful to each other; consider each other, in order to avoid breaking the great precepts. But, don't divulge people's little mistakes!"
The Blessed One said to the bhikkhus: "Now, if you have any doubts, ask, and complain later!" Buddha asked three times, none of them asked at all.
The Buddha again said to the bhikkhus: "What is wrong with my body, speech, and mind, please tell me!" The bhikkhus, sad and lamented, said: "What more fault does the World-Honored One have?"
He continued: "You should know: all physical formations are impermanent, although my body is now a vajra body, it is not immune to impermanence. In the terrifying path of birth-and-death, you should work diligently and diligently, and quickly get out of this fire pit of birth and death, that's my final teaching!"
"Well, my time to enter Nirvana has come!"
The bhikkhus were sad, and he taught: "You shouldn't be sad anymore, that's the nature of all things!"
XVII. Buddha entered Nirvana
At that time the German Tathagata entered the first-meditation; out of the first-meditation, into the second-meditation; out of the Second-meditation, into the Three-meditation; out of the Three-meditation, into the Four-meditation; out of the Four-meditation, into the Void-land; out of the Land of No, into the Land of Consciousness; out of the Consciousness-land, into the Land of No-Ownership; out of No-Owner-land, into Non-thought, non-non-thought-land; out of the non-perception-non-non-perception-land, into the cessation-concentration.
At that time, Mr. Ananda, seeing that the Tathagata was silent and did not speak, his detailed body did not waver, he fell to tears and said, "The Blessed One has now entered Nirvana. !”
Then Mr. Aniruddha said to Mr. Ananda: "Right now, the Tathagata has not entered Nirvana! The reason why he is silent, his body does not waver, is that he entered the cessation of cessation!"
The World-Honored One came out of the cessation of cessation, returned to the land of neither-perception-nor-non-perception, and in turn entered the first jhana. Then he went out of the first-meditation, into the second-meditation; out of the Second-meditation, into the Three-meditation; out of the three-meditation, into the four-meditation. And, right there he entered Nirvana.
At that time, Ananda said to Ananda: "The Blessed One has already entered Nirvana at the place of the fourth jhāna!
Mr. Ananda and the four groups of them, hearing Mr. Anu-la-da say that, felt pity, cried, choked, sadly fainted and fell to the ground. Some of them either waved their hands, shook their heads, beat their chests and shouted, saying to each other, "The eyes of the world are gone, how quickly! From now on, all sentient beings, who are the leaders and Humans and Heavens will decrease, and the evil ways will increase more and more!"
At that time, Thien and Long eight feet in space, with tears flowing like abundant rain, told each other: “From now on, who is our refuge; we are like a child who has lost a good mother; three evil ways, the day widens more, the door of liberation is closed many times! All sentient beings, suffering from depression and suffering, are like sick people separated from their physician, like a blind man who has lost his guide! We are far away from the supreme Dharma King, the enemy of affliction invades every day!”
Having said that, they are sad, depressed, unable to restrain themselves.
At that time, the athletes who sent the Strength, in the city of Cuthina, were all healthy, like incense, and yet when they saw that the Tathagata had passed into Nirvana, his body- their appearance was worn out, like a sick person.
At that time, the earth trembled, the drums of the sky suddenly rang, the waves of the four great oceans were pounding and whirling, the Tu-Di mountain naturally shook, the wind blew violently, the wooden forest broke, the ropes were broken. wither-wither, fear-different!
At that time, Great-Brahma Heavenly King spoke in verse:
Past and Future,
Together in the Present;
There are no sentient beings,
Not towards impermanence.
As-Lai: Thien-Human-Teacher,
Body-diamond-solid;
Not from impermanence, How about
other people!
All sentient beings,
Respectfully protect the body;
Invigorating other flowers,
Unknown will destroy!
The Tathagata has a golden body,
Adorned with a good sign, the
Assembly is also relinquished,
and Enters the Parinirvana.
End all afflictions,
City-necessary-race-wise;
Still can't get rid of it,
Where do people afflict-forced!
That next week, God-De-Like said a verse that:
The nature of all generals,
Real is the birth-destroy France;
The Two-Tails [29] supreme,
Also about the place of destruction.
The three poisons of fire [30] are burning,
Often incinerating sentient beings;
There is no cloud "Great Compassion",
What can stop the rain?
Mr. A-brown-dala also said the verse:
Today Germany Tathagata,
All roots do not waver;
Mind assembly of dharmas,
But leave this body.
Calmly thoughtless,
Nor received anything;
Just as the lamp goes out and lights up,
so too will the Tathagata die!
At this point, Mr. Ananda continued the verse:
The earth suddenly shook,
The four-sided raging wind;
Waves lapping wildly,
Mount Tu-Moving, reclining.
Tam Thien, Human sadness, suffering,
Tears cry like rain;
All are born with fear
Like being held by non-humans [31]:
Due to the Buddha's entry into Nirvana,
there should be such a thing!
At that time, there were Bhikkhus, Humans, and Gods among them who had not yet attained the Way, and saw the As-Tatthagata enter Nirvana, the mind gave birth to a brain coat and struggled to the ground; Those who have attained enlightenment, lamenting the world's sufferings of impermanence, compassion, and crying, can't help themselves.
At that time, Ananda said to the Bhikkhus, as well as the Humans and Devas, "You should not be too distressed, because before, the Tathagata made it clear for you that nature is nature. "The generals of all things are like that, why are you still trying to mourn?"
At that time Mr. Ananda immediately announced to everyone from the four directions: "The Tathagata has now entered Nirvana!" Everyone heard Mr. Ananda say that, with compassion, crying, sadness, and choking on their brains, they said to Mr. Ananda: "Now we are here, too many, too crowded-- Even after thirty-two yojanas, they were all full, so we respectfully ask the venerable one to allow us to see the Tathagata in turn, so that we can see them one last time. , worship and make offerings. Because, when the Tathagata was born, it is difficult to meet, like the Udumbara flower from time to time, from time to time to appear. Now we are close to the place where the Buddha entered Nirvana, please have mercy on us, so that we can see the Buddha's likeness!"
Mr. Ananda listened to the people, thinking to himself: "When the Tathagata was born, it was very difficult to meet. It is also very difficult to make the last offering. Now we should give it to those who make offerings. Buddha first? Now we should allow the Bhikkhunis and the Upasakas to come first and offer the Buddha's body. What happen? - They are weak-willed women, and besides, they have not been able to go to the Buddha's place often since ancient times. Because of that fate, I let them come first!"
With that in mind, he immediately announced to the bhikkhunis, and the Upasi, to come before the body of the Tathagata to enter Nirvana.
The bhikkhunis and immeasurable Upasikas all went to the Buddha's place together. When they reached the place where they saw the Tathagata entering Nirvana, they cried and cried, circumambulated, worshiped and made offerings of everything.
At that time, there was a poor Upasi, a hundred years old, she saw the wives and daughters, big and small, of the Brahmins, the Satis, the bourgeois, and the residents. When she was a monk, brought good incense, flowers, all kinds of offerings to the Buddha, she felt sorry for herself, being poor, and only suffered the loss of good vows here. Her mind thought to herself: "The birth of the Tathagata is very difficult to meet, make offerings to him. the last time was also very difficult, and now I am poor, broke, unable to express my sincere heart!" When she thought that, she became more and more compassionate and moved. She went to the Buddha's feet, her heart and mind was too heavy, she cried and cried, and her tears flowed down to the Buddha's feet, staining the Buddha's feet. She prayed: I pray that wherever I am born in the next life, I will often see Buddha!"
The Bhikkhunis and the Upasi, having finished their offerings, immediately returned to their places.
At that time, Mr. Ananda, again announced to the others that the Bhikkhunis and Upasakas had finished making their offerings, and they could come in front of the Buddha's body to make offerings. . Everyone has heard, in turn to the place where the Buddha's body entered Nirvana. Arriving at the place they saw the Tathagata passed into Nirvana, crying and crying hard, very sad and depressed, they brought all the offerings and offerings to the Buddha.
COMPENDIUM
At that time, the Tathagata entered and exited the Four-Meditation, the Four-Nowhere-Based Concentration, and the Cessation of End Concentration twice. The third time he entered and exited from the First Meditation to the Four Meditations, he entered Nirvana there. Mr. Ananda said to Mr. Ananda: "The World-Honored One has entered Nirvana in the Four Meditations!"
At that time, the masses were sad, struggling, crying and lamenting; the gods wept and shed tears like torrential rain; The Athletes are also sad and sluggish like a newly sick person. Even the earth trembles, Mount Tu-Di also tilts, the waves break, the wind blows violently, the grass breaks, withers... And, everyone is scared.
Next, Dai-Pham-Thien-king spoke a verse about impermanence, no one can escape. God-like also talked about that and lamented that sentient beings today are burned by the fire of the three poisons, and there is no longer the water of Great Compassion to extinguish. Mr. Ananda spoke about this Tathagata giving up his body as if the lamp was extinguished and lit up. Mr. Ananda said the sad scene of all when the Buddha entered Nirvana. Those who have not yet attained the Way, have mercy on their brains, those who have attained enlightenment, lament the impermanence of the world!
Mr. Ananda announced to everyone that the Tathagata entered Nirvana!
He let the Bhikkhunis and Upasikas go to the Buddha and make offerings first. Among them was a poor old woman who went to worship the Buddha, cried and shed tears at the Buddha's feet. Then the other men, in turn, worshiped and made offerings to the Buddha.
XVIII. BUDDHA'S BODY CURRENCY
At that time, the athletes who sent the Bodybuilder gathered together and said to each other, "Now, how are we going to cremate the Tathagata's body? When the World-Honored One was about to enter Nirvana, he must have had a testament?" Having said this, they immediately went in and asked Mr. Ananda: "Now that we want to go together to cremate the Tathagata's body, how will this cremation be, perhaps when the Blessed One is about to enter Nirvana? -The table has a relic, respectfully ask the Venerable to tell us to do it!"
Mr. Ananda told the Athletes dispatchers: "The Tathagata-samadhi has the same method of cremation as the method of cremation of the Holy King!" Mr. Ananda immediately told them fully what the Buddha had done before. The athletes who sent the Athletes listened to Ananda's words, and together they bought all the things for cremation. First, they buy a precious and beautiful chariot, carved and decorated; they put the Tathagata's body on that treasure cart, burned incense and scattered flowers, played all kinds of music, praised and praised; in the sound of music, sounding the dharmas: "Suffering, emptiness, impermanence, non-self, impure."
At that time, the Athletes dispatched Ananda, saying: "Now that the Tathagata has passed into Nirvana, this last offering is very difficult to meet, we would like to invite the Tathagata to stay. Will you come back for seven days and seven nights and let everyone make offerings so that the gods and humans can be happy forever?"
Mr. Ananda brought the request of the athletes dispatching to ask Mr. Anu-la-da. Mr. Anu-la-da replied to Mr. Ananda: "How precious! You give them what they want!”
Mr. Ananda told the Athletes: "It is convenient for you to keep the Buddha's body for seven days and seven nights, and let everyone make offerings!"
The athletes who sent the Athletes listened to Mr. Ananda's words, their hearts were mixed with sadness and joy. Right in that forest, they prepared all kinds of offerings.
After seven days have passed, the Athletes will take fresh, clean cotton and a small, fine cloth, and wrap it around the Tathagata's body. Then take the golden coffin to put it inside; In this golden coffin, sprinkled with powdered ox-head incense and precious flowers. Again they put the golden coffin in the silver coffin; put the silver coffin in the bronze coffin; put the bronze coffin in the iron coffin; put the iron coffin on the treasure cart, then play all kinds of music, singing, and praising. The gods in the void sprinkled the Mandala flower, the Maha Mandala flower, the Mantusa flower, the Maha flower, the Mandala flower, and played celestial music, everything. easy offering. When the offering is done, the queen takes turns lowering the coffin lids.
Then the Athletes sent together said, "Now that the seven-day period is over, we should carry the Tathagata's robes around the city to let the people wear their offerings, after them I just carried it to the south of the city!" Having said these words, together they lifted the Tathagata's robes, but, with all their strength, they were unable to carry it. Seeing this, they were all amazed, for some reason, they brought it up and asked Mr. Ananda: "We all want to carry the Buddha's coffin, go around the city, and then return in. South door. When we arrived at the place of worshiping the fire-altar, we were exhausted with all our strength and still couldn't carry it, we didn't know what it was, so we respectfully ask the Venerable Master for us. Tell us about it!”
Ananda told everyone: "The reason for this is because the gods in the sky want to let the Buddha's coffin go around the city, then come in from the north gate and stop in the middle of the city to rest. , let the Gods and Humans make offerings of everything, then come out from the East gate, go to the Bao-Quan tower, and do the cremation ceremony!"
The other athletes, having heard this, said to one another, "Thus is the will of the gods, we should obey."
Then, they carried the Buddha's coffin, circled around the city, entered from the North gate, stopped in the middle of the city to rest in the middle of the city so that the gods and humans could make offerings to them, play good music, burn incense, scatter flowers, and sing praises. lament. The gods in the sky sprinkled the Mandala flower, the Maha Mandala flower, the Mandala flower, the Maha Mandala flower, played heavenly music together, and all kinds of offerings. .
After finishing the offering, from the east gate of the city, to the place of Bao-quan tower.
Arriving there, the Bhikkhus, Bhikkhus, Upasakas, Upasadas, Thiens, and Dragons were moved to mourn and weep, unable to restrain themselves, but together picked them up. burdock and other fragrant woods, piled up. On that pile of wood, spread beautiful thick silk fabrics, draped over them with a large, beautiful mosquito net.
Done, carrying the Buddha's coffin, seven rounds around the pile of fragrant wood; burn incense, scatter flowers, play all kinds of music; Lifting up the Buddha's coffin, put it on a pile of fragrant wood, take good fragrant oil, and sprinkle it all over.
At that time, the four sets of them, together with the gods and humans, who loved the brain robe, couldn't help themselves, and together they took fire and burned it from below. But, the fire did not burn, even burned three times, the wood still did not burn. Everyone did not know the reason, so they asked Mr. Anu-la-da about this matter, "We burned the pile of fragrant wood three times, why didn't it burn?"
Ananda replied, "This is possible because, Venerable Mahakasyapa (Mahàkàsyapa) in the country of Daksha-na-kyi, heard that the Tathagata was about to enter. Nirvana, the venerable one, and five hundred bhikkhus, returning from that country, wanted to see the Blessed One, so the Blessed One did not let the fire burn!"
When the mass heard it, it was very much appreciated. It was strange.
At that time, the venerable Maha Kassapa, from the country of Dracula, heard from afar that the Tathagata was about to enter Nirvana in the city of Cuthina, with great affection his heart. Immediately, together with five hundred Bhikkhus, they set out to go home.
Not far from the city, Venerable Master was so sick that he was so tired, he sat on the side of the road, unable to walk anymore. When the Venerable and the Bhikkhus were sitting under a tree and saw a non-Buddhist man holding a mandala flower in his hand, Venerable Ka-yapa asked: "Where have you come from?" The other replied, "I'm back from Cuthina!" Venerable Kashyapa again asked: "Do you know that my teacher is an Improviser [32]?" The other man replied, "I know that your great master has been living in the middle of a row of cypress trees in the forest of Sala, in the city of Cuthina, and has already entered Nirvana. It has been seven days now, and this time is here. where the Bao-Quan tower is about to be cremated; Thien and Nhan were crowded, competing for offerings, so there I got this heavenly flower!"
The venerable Kāyapa heard this, mourned and choked, the Bhikkhus were sad, fainted, and fell to the ground, saying to each other: "Alas, what a pain! The eye of the world is gone!”
At that time. Venerable Kashyapa, comforted them: "You should not give birth to such suffering, because the characteristics of all things are like that! The Tathagata Thien Ton still can't escape, let alone others? You should be diligent, need to leave the life of suffering! Now you should get up, go quickly to the place of Bao-quan tower, worship and admire the Buddha's body!"
At that time, there were a few other bhikkhus in the assembly, late in renunciation, ignorant fools, and said to each other, "While the Buddha was still in the world, he forbade us, rebuked us, we did not allowed to act freely, now the Buddha has entered Nirvana, so happy!"
At that time, Venerable Ca-Diep and the Bhikkhus, approached the city of Cuthina. Arriving at Bao-quan tower, seeing the Tathagata's coffin, on the pile of fragrant wood all mourned and cried, circumambulated seven times, then climbed up the fragrant wood pile to the Buddha's coffin, right at his feet, lamented. - wept bitterly and bowed his head to the Buddha's feet.
At that time, the Tathagata's body, wrapped in a precious robe, spontaneously popped out two feet. Venerable Ca-Lettuce seeing that, more compassion, fear. Devas, when everyone saw this strange and rare occurrence, everyone was lamented, born in pain, and loved and regretted.
Venerable Kasyapa saw a stain on the Buddha's feet, immediately turned around and asked Mr. Ananda: "Why is there such a stain on the Tathagata's feet?" Mr. Ananda replied: "Starting when the Tathagata entered Nirvana, and the four assemblies were crowded, then I thought that if the masses were to go up to the Buddha at the same time to make offerings, women would be weak at that time. When I could not get ahead, I immediately let the Bhikkhunis and Upasi go in first to the Tathagata's body to worship and make offerings. At that time, a poor Upasi, a hundred years old, saw his wife and daughters, great and small, of the Brahmins, the Savyas, the bourgeois, the laypeople, the strong. -sister…, bringing good incense-flowers, offering everything, she feels sorry for herself, poor, unable to express her heart-wishings; she thought so, more compassionate, touched, she went to the Buddha's feet, her mind was too much, she cried profusely, her tears flowed down, dirtying the Buddha's feet like that!"
Venerable Ca-Lettuce heard that, with a sad heart, rebuked Mr. Ananda for not knowing how to stop her, to the point of defiling the Buddha's feet like that! The false religious immediately brought incense-flowers and made offerings to the Buddha's coffin. Worshiping, praising, the work is done, the Buddha's feet naturally retracted. Venerable Ca-Lettuce immediately returned to the ground.
And because of Buddha's power, that pile of fragrant wood spontaneously caught fire on all four sides, and in seven days, that precious robe was completely burned. At that time, the gods rained down, the fire went out, and the men sent athletes to collect Sa-li; they removed thousands of layers of cloth wrapped around the Buddha's body, in the same stretch, the outside was still the same as before and still covered with Sāli.
At that time, the gods in the air, scattering all kinds of precious flowers, together play music, sing, praise, and make offerings to Sāli. Those who came here, along with the Athletes dispatched, placed all kinds of offerings.
The men who sent the Strongmen immediately brought the golden sparks, picked up Sāli, and placed them on the treasure cart, burned incense, scattered flowers, played all sorts of musical instruments, returned to the city, built a tall building. put the Sāli upstairs, guarded against four types of troops, for defense and protection, and only allowed the Bhikkhus and Bhikkhunis to enter and worship and offer all kinds of offerings. only, but the king, the brahmin, the elder, the layman, and all the people of the other country, do not come first.
COMPENDIUM
At that time, the people who sent the Strong-willed gathered together to discuss the cremation of the Buddha's body.
They came to ask Mr. Ananda about this method of cremation, maybe when the Buddha was about to pass away, there would be a form again? Mr. Ananda immediately explained the Buddha's teachings on that method for them to understand.
They return, practice as dharma.
Then they came again to ask Mr. Ananda to save the Buddha's body for 7 days and 7 nights for everyone to freely make offerings. Mr. Ananda agreed.
At the end of 7 days, they put the Buddha's body in four coffins: gold, silver, copper, iron, sprinkled flowers, sprinkled incense, and closed the lid.
Then they carried the Buddha's coffin around the city, entered the North gate, stayed in the middle of the city, then exited the East gate, went to the Bao-Quan tower, and performed a cremation ceremony.
Arriving at the pyrotechnics, finishing preparations, immediately carried the Buddha's coffin, placed it on a pile of fragrant wood, and lit a fire. But, forever the fire still does not burn. Because, Venerable Maha Ca-Diep has not returned from the country of Dak-soa-na-kyi.
The venerable Ka-yapa arrived at the place, harassed the Buddha, climbed up to the place where the Buddha's coffin was placed, bowed at the Buddha's feet, and naturally his feet popped out. The more the pseudo-religion, the more human, the very strange.
After worshiping, Buddha's feet indented, Venerable Ca-Lettuce descends, due to Buddha's natural fire-power, four sides of the pile of wood burned on fire. Burned for 7 days, the coffin was completely burned, the rain gods came down to extinguish the fire. They sent the Strongmen to collect the Shariputra and put it in a golden pot, place it on the upper floor of the city to make offerings and cut off the 4 types of defense troops. guard, do not let outsiders in.
XIX. Army
At that time, King Ajatasatru, her son Vi-de-Hy (Vaidehi) heard that the strongman sent, collected the Buddha's sary, and placed it on a high floor, armed with four types of troops to guard against. Guards, guardians, very sad, worn-out, and angry with those who sent the athletes, the king immediately sent messengers to tell the other athletes, saying: "World-Honored One. in the world, also my teacher, when he entered Nirvana, I regret not being able to come to the audience; besides, my family name and the name of the Blessed One were both of the Shalitites, so why do you now collect the Sāli that He has placed on a high floor, guarded by four types of troops, for defense and protection? not share with others? You should give me a portion, I want in my country, build a precious stupa, buy all kinds of offerings to make offerings to him. If you agree, then the two countries will be in harmony forever, if you don't agree, I will raise an army to fight your country!"
And, the other seven kings, together with the people who sent Lyza, the city of Pidaly, etc., also sent messengers with the same method. Even brahmins, elders, and laypeople sent messengers to the athletes to tell them: "The Blessed One is also our teacher, we hope you have mercy on them. , give us a portion of His Royal Palace!"
When the emissaries of the nations came to send the Strength, they proclaimed the full will of their Kings.
After hearing this, the Athletes sent forth, feeling very discontented, replied to the messengers: "The Buddha returned to our country. He entered Nirvana, his Sālipatti naturally belonged to us. If you want to build a dignified stupa in your own country, it can't be done. When the tower here is completed, you are welcome to come here to worship and worship with us. But if you want to raise an army against this country, then the people of this country will be enough to fight each other!"
Then the messengers of the other nations, returning to their own countries, each one turned to his King, stating this work. When the kings heard this, the more they became angry and angry, they were all severely punished by the four types of soldiers who went to punish the other country. And, the other Strength team was also severely beaten by the battle equipment, to fight against the enemy again.
In the city of Cuthina, there lived a Brahmin named Dolona, who was intelligent, multi-minded, devoted to the Three Jewels, and thought to himself: "The Eight Kingdoms- the other king and the people who sent Lyza... physically strong and powerful, and the army elite; Besides, the strength of the Strongmen is hard to withstand, if they fight, they will not be able to be both!"
He immediately said to the other athletes, "Although you are brave and courageous, the other eight kings are of the same strength, of the same heart, they are gathered together, and the battle is mighty. , if you fight, reason is not perfect, spears have fought, decided to have pity. Besides, the Tathagata in the world, teaching people to do good, today suddenly go to kill each other! So you should not spare a bit of Sāli, you should divide it among the nations, and the Lyza faction…; Every place is in their own country, building an offering tower; Not only does it conform to the old World-Honored One's teaching, but it also makes you all happy!"
The Athletes dispatched, after hearing this saying, with their minds enlightened, immediately replied to him, "What you say is very reasonable, we will follow what you say!"
That brahmin, seeing that the men who sent the Strength were disarmed, he went out of the city and spoke to the kings, saying: "Now, for the sake of the law, why have you raised an army?"
The kings replied, "We have come here for the sake of the Dharma from far away, and we have seen them resisting and refusing to share with us, so now we have to raise an army here together! ”
At that time, that brahmin said to the kings again: "I have reconciled with them, and those who sent the Strength are willing to share with you, so you You bring in the treasure vase, and I will divide Sāli for you!”
The eight kings rejoiced, giving him the golden vase. The other brahmin received the golden vases, took them, and distributed them to the eight kings on the upper floor.
At that time the eight kings, having obtained the Sāli, joyfully put them on their heads, returned to their own countries, and built treasure towers. The men sent the Athletes... to take a portion and stay at the conflagration, to collect the leftover coal ashes, and to build an offering tower. Thus, in all there are ten places to build towers.
So, before the Tathagata is about to enter Nirvana, and after entering Nirvana, to the cremation, the building of towers, that's all!
And, after that, Venerable Ca-Diep together with Mr. Ananda and the Bhikkhus assembled the Tripitaka in the city of Vajrasattva. [33]
COMPENDIUM
When sending the Strongman to collect the Buddha's relics and go up to the upper floor, King Asathe and 7 other Kings all sent messengers to ask each country for a part to build an offering tower. And, if the sending of Strength does not allow, the nations will send troops to fight.
Both the Lysa sect in the city of Vida-ly along with the Brahmins, bourgeois, lay-people... all over the world also let people come to beg.
The messengers came to the Gymnast, stating the intentions of their Kings. Sending Athletes disgruntled, definitely not allowed and if they fight, fight.
So the two sides prepare for war.
At that time, an intelligent, multi-wise, and knowledgeable Brahmin, named Dolona, came to send the Strongman: "You should not fight, you should bring them to you. divide the Sāli for the countries to build the worshiping tower. One is not to hurt life, because if you fight against 8 countries and other factions, it will not be beneficial. Second, doing so is contrary to the Buddha's teaching to do good, you will not be benefited.
Dispatch the Strength-Soldiers to obey. Mr. Dolona went to make peace and stood up for the division of Sali for 8 countries, sending the strongmen to bring back and build an offering tower.
After that, sending the Strongmen again to put the ashes in the pyre to build another tower, so there were ten towers in all.
A short time ago, Venerable Ca-Diep, Mr. Ananda and the Bhikkhus, gathered the Tripitaka in the city of Vajrasattva.
Before, after the Buddha's Nirvana like that!

[1] Turning the Wheel of the Holy King: The Brahmin is called Chuoc-ca-la-pha-lat-to-hat-laxa (Cakavarti-raja): The King of Wheel-turning-saint-king has 32 generals. When he was in a position of power, because of his inclination, the king was given a precious chariot (lunar treasure), which rotated and transported goods to all four directions, so it was called a wheel-turning-royalty.
